DESCRIPTION
360° Leadership Assessment
The CheckPoint 360˚ Competency Feedback System is a multi-rater feedback process that provides participants with an opportunity to receive an evaluation of their job performance from the people around them – their boss, their peers, and the people whose work they supervise. From this feedback, participants can compare the opinions of others with their own perceptions, positively identify their strengths, and pinpoint the areas of their job performance that could be improved.
This assessment process is concerned with the participant’s job performance in eight skill clusters and 18 universal competencies, described as follows:
COMMUNICATION TASK MANAGEMENT
Listens to others Works efficiently Processes information Works competently Communicates effectively
LEADERSHIP PRODUCTION
Instills trust Take action Provides direction Achieves results Delegates responsibility
ADAPTABILITY DEVELOPMENT OF OTHERS
Adjusts to circumstances Cultivates individual talents Thinks creatively Motivates successfully
RELATIONSHIPS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Builds personal relationships Displays commitment Facilitates team success Seeks improvement
Each participant completes an evaluation, a process that takes about 30 minutes. They are guaranteed anonymity (except for the "Boss") and urged to be honest and objective in their responses. Participants may complete their assignments via the Internet and results from all participants are compiled in a report that is returned to the individual.
The 360˚ Competency Feedback System is an effective leadership development system that pays big dividends in improved performance.
MindSpring™ has created highly effective delivery systems for helping groups and teams address the feedback obtained from the assessment process.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Dealing with Conflict and Difficult People
Dealing with Conflict and Difficult People focuses on the skill of constructive discontent, the ability to remain comfortably uncomfortable in conflict. This is the number one characteristic by which your leadership is judged and remembered. Increasing your ability to give and receive critical feedback in a positive and healthy manner is essential to accountable leadership behavior.
The skill of giving and receiving feedback is paramount in developing trust throughout the group. On nearly every performance measure, high performing teams are good at sharing feedback. Staying calm and deeply intentional in the face of strong words and emotion is the truest indicator of your leadership. How you respond to feedback determines the outcomes of group work.
In many cases, the traditional leader will deal with the worst of "them" from the worst of "him / her." Operating out of stress and defense, the traditional leader attacks the message and / or the messenger. Our work centers on the ability to deal with the worst of "them" from your LeaderSelf versus your StressSelf.
However, there are times to be the giver of difficult feedback and initiate conflict. To achieve this goal, Dealing with Conflict and Difficult People provides two central strategies that will help you improve your ability to deal with conflict immediately.
Program Objectives:
• Increase your understanding of the nature of critical feedback.
• Learn strategies for moving through conflict with the intention of creating a win/win scenario.
• Examine your thinking process, its barriers, and how to increase your ability to give and receive critical feedback without taking it personally.
Emotional Intelligence
How skilled is your team in dealing with conflict? How open and receptive is the group in giving and receiving feedback? What is the level of trust that exists within the group? What is the level of optimal performance of the group?
EQ is a hidden advantage. It is a science of personal effectiveness, leadership, and trusting relationships. It is a dynamic of leadership that can create and sustain trust, loyalty, commitment, productivity, and innovation in organizations when properly managed. We believe strongly that it is the cornerstone of powerful, dynamic leadership.
There are a number of platforms that we use to gather information but certainly, our favorite is the emotional intelligence profile because of its breath and depth. We create a 1 page profile of the group not only ranking the group in 20 different arenas of emotional intelligence but developing a standard deviation quotient which allows you to evaluate the consistency of the group. From evaluating trust to optimal performance, from resilience to emotional expression, the profile is an incredibly valuable tool that can serve as a guide for to address the true needs of the group rather than wasting your time and training money on the latest fad.
In past experiences, we have been hired to address particular dynamics in a group but as a result of utilizing the emotional intelligence profile, changed the complete direction of the training goals and designed the work to address the true dynamics of the group. From executive leadership levels to high potentials, the profiles are superb at revealing the internal, invisible dynamics of the group. We can apply this strategy prior to the teambuilding program or complete the assessment on site, create the profile of the group that evening, and make the necessary adjustments to the learning process the very next day.
The “Emotional Intelligence Group Profile” can serve as a valuable and lasting tool in determining training and development needs without guessing. Examining 20 different emotional intelligence competencies, MindSpring has created a powerful one page snapshot of the group allowing you to pinpoint what needs to be addressed in the group. Using a standard deviation quotient, the profile also allows you to evaluate the level of consistency within the group.
The “Emotional Intelligence Group Profile” helps you identify anomalies and understand how and why the group operates as they do. Deleting the need to pursue the latest fad in training and development, you will have a unique road map to follow in developing your group or team to their potential.
Facilitation Includes up to 3 hours pre meeting planning for groups up to 20 participants
We have two decades of experience in facilitating group processes in a wide variety of roles. In considering our facilitation services, we are superb at:
Group Management: We are adept at creating a safe environment for all to speak and engage, as well as handling conflict and discord as it arises without taking sides or making someone out to be wrong.
We recognize individuals have different communication styles and allow for those differences while giving everyone the opportunity to engage.
Communication Skills: You can expect us to be timely, responsive, flexible and adaptable in our communication, including the pre-meetings and post meetings. We are tuned in to nuances and unspoken communication, are focused listeners, flexible and open to feedback and disagreement.
Agenda Development: We have vast experience in developing agendas that effectively keep the group engaged, addressing the relevant and meaningful issues for sustained learning and change. Our experience as educators, program developers and facilitators, uniquely equips us to serve as a valuable resource in this process.
Meeting Facilitation: We are excellent at seeing the big picture and leading the conversation into actionable outcomes. Our process for “Creating Sustainable Change” is a powerful tool in planning the agenda, preparing for the meeting and developing strategies for measurable outcomes.
Learning Opportunities: As a result of our complete curriculum that makes up the “Center for Integrated Leadership” and our experience in managing learning environments, we naturally incorporate learning into the meeting agenda as needed or as included. Managing the energy of individuals and the session is a vital aspect of facilitation, especially in multi-day meetings, and we are extremely skilled in incorporating elements of one-on-one, partner and small group exercises to enhance communication, participation, innovation and momentum.
Accountability and Momentum: We are committed to serving as a resource beyond the scope of daily duties. Not only will we be well-versed in the proposed steps moving forward, enabling us to serve as a resource, we also can operate as “momentum coaches” through face to face, telephone and on-line presence.
Preparation and Follow-up: You can count on us to be flexible, available and approachable throughout your process. Whether it be face-to-face or telephone conferences, we will speak with all parties to make sure we completely understand the goals, objectives and expected outcomes.
Relevant Experience: We have worked in many diverse, complex and challenging group settings, affording us the experience and situational awareness to respond to a wide range of circumstances effectively and gracefully. We have facilitated programs for high functioning and not so high groups across the country for years. We have led groups in single session events and worked with groups over several years, designing progressive sessions to develop significant leaders and teams
Individual & Team Dynamics: Building Effective Teams To maintain and nurture an effective team and be able to predict their success, it is important to assess the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of the individuals.
Assessing the role the individual plays and contributes to the group dynamic is essential. It is not simply a matter of offering a “cookie-cutter” solution to everyone. Using a style delineator, participants will examine and refine their understanding of their style and the styles of others on the team, increasing their ability to communicate across styles and their appreciation of diversity of thought.

The Mission Possible Team Experience
The three day Mission Possible Team Experience is a tremendous experience for you and your team and our clients consider it the most unique and engaging team-building experience they have encountered. It is only conducted between the end of June 1 and September 30.
MindSpring™ recognizes that there are many diverse forces, needs, and perceptions at work within any group. Some groups require individuals strong in sequential step-by-step progression. Others rely upon individuals versatile in random, three-dimensional, creative patterns. The entire organization benefits when team members increase their awareness of these dynamics.
To maintain and nurture an effective team, it is important to assess the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of the individual. Assessing the role the individual plays in relationship to the above goals is essential but it is equally important to know what skills are required in order for the team to succeed. It is not a matter of offering a “cookie-cutter” solution to everyone.
Using a style delineator, participants will examine and refine their understanding of the dynamics related to successful teams, develop appreciation for differences, and understand how to nurture those differences. The differences are highlighted and experienced on Day 2!
At the end of Day 1, you and your team will begin preparations for Day 2, Mission Possible!
Functioning independently from the end of the 1st day to lunchtime on the 2nd day, you are provided a set of instructions that include:
• What must be prepared as a group before day 2.
• Directions to Day 2 location.
• The name of a person you must locate upon arriving.
• This person will give you a box. Inside the box are your instructions to follow on your 54 mile roundtrip journey.
• You do not have to be in shape. There is no hiking, swimming, rafting or sweating.
• Assuming that you are successful, MindSpring™ will meet you with a wonderful lunch.
• The 3rd day is dedicated to consolidating your learning and how highly effective teams function.
Interactive and engaging, the 3rd day in the classroom is dedicated to using the previous day’s experience to substantially increase the participant’s and the team’s understanding of how effective teams function and strategies for your team’s evolution.
The Essence of Excellence
The Essence of Excellence is MindSpring’s platform for strategic planning and vision work.
This program is a culmination of over 25 years of working with teams and individuals at highly functioning levels, crisis driven behaviors, as well as dysfunctional circumstances and outcomes. One of the most fascinating dynamics we continue to witness is observing how talented, experienced and good people create low-functioning teams that achieve less than desired outcomes. How and why does this occur?
To understand what excellence is, it is important to understand what it is not. This program guides the team into profiling how mediocrity is born, nurtured and perpetuated, and serves as a valuable lens in revealing the true essence of excellence and how to create it. Come learn the seven crucial dynamics of highly effective teams and map out how to implement them in your daily operations, relationships and team.
This is a working program, using much of the time to construct your model of excellence based on the seven dynamics and other resources. Through exercises and application sessions, you will design strategies for developing excellence, create your vision for years to come, as well as well as articulate the principles and behaviors that will allow that vision to be sustained.
Objectives
• Increase your understanding of how mediocrity is created, and the true cause of performance roadblocks.
• Learn the seven key elements required of any successful team and how performance is affected when these dynamics are over-looked.
• Create a model of excellence that is specific and authentic for the team, with sustainable strategies for continued growth and improved outcomes.
• Increase communication and commitment among team members.
Benefits
• Open and honest exploration of current circumstances and team dynamics.
• Uncover the cause of the outcomes the team experiences and acknowledge accountability for the unsatisfactory ones.
• Develop a thorough and actionable plan for eradicating mediocrity and insisting on excellence.
• Take back a model for individual and team behaviors and practices that invite open communication, integrity and accountability.
The Leadership RoadMap
Our Leadership RoadMap is a three-day leadership development process that is anything but coaching as usual.
Each individual functions within their own unique set of experiences, beliefs, values and patterns, which serve as the foundation of their leadership model. Our work is to give them the information and skills to optimize their model as well as the wisdom to lead others into their most powerful selves.
We have significant experience in group and individual leadership training and development, program facilitation and coaching. Our pioneering work in coaching has resulted in the "Leadership RoadMap” and the “Leadership Box©” powerful MindSpring™ tools guiding individuals into a significant understanding of their leadership behavior in a short period of time, separating effect from true cause, creating sustainable change in their life and work. It is our experience that the arena of training and development must change from basic level information sharing and skills training to a deeper understanding of cause and effect, accountability and conscious leadership.
Our innovative "Leadership RoadMap©" approach centers on the understanding that the individual possesses a model that cannot be duplicated, lost or stolen. The individual’s model is a one-of-a-kind “biology” that contains the source of their behavioral and performance outcomes. Our process leads the individual to understand more deeply than ever before the true dynamics that are creating the out comes in one’s life and work, integrating mind, body and emotions.
Our goals in this multi-faceted "Leadership RoadMap©" process are to increase significantly the individual’s understanding of their internal leadership model, the closed-tape-loops that drive that model, the individual's unique barriers and the creation of a pathway into the best of themselves and their LeaderSelf, becoming a guiding light and leadership model for the organization. A final product includes a StressSelf Model and an Evolved LeaderSelf Model.
While each session goes where the individual leader needs to go, topics of discussion include: conscious leadership, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution and healthy communication, giving and receiving feedback, resilience and wellness, and integrity, Our process includes assessments, materials, CDs, follow-up and may involve follow-up phone calls if requested.
