SERVICE TASK DESCRIPTIONS

1. 3D Scan Services – the process of shining a structured laser line over the surface of an object in order to collect 3-dimensional data. The surface data is captured by a camera sensor mounted in the laser scanner that records accurate dense 3D points in space. Structured light 3D scanners are used to capture data using latest LED blue-light technology collecting millions of points in just a few seconds.

2. Data Processing – first consists of a meshing process that connects the points within a point cloud into a collection of triangles and then aligns the scans from various angles to create the whole object surface. The aligned scans must be merged into one continuous mesh so there is no overlapping of parts resulting in a final simplified polygonal model.

3. Model Construction – A NURBS (non-uniform rational b-spline) ‘Dumb’ Solid starts with the polygonal model. NURBS surfaces are wrapped over the polygonal wire frame creating a smoother surface model than a polygonal. The NURBS model can then be imported into CAD, CAM and CAE applications.

4. Dimensional Analysis – this inspection process analyzes 3D data with the use of laser scanning and reverse engineering tools and methodologies to: a) compare a scanned part/object to a “nominal” or intended design model; b) compare a scanned part/object to 2D drawing dimensions; and c) compare a scanned part/object to another scanned part/object.

5. Laser Tracker Services – large scale 3D inspection as well as reverse engineering so products may be built with dimensional integrity and replicate geometry with extreme accuracy. May be use for:

machine alignment; manufacturing process installation; dimensional inspection; tool building; and reverse engineering.
