Salient Characteristics PR #0040(TO BE ADDED)

S15059

The USGS Water Science Center in Albuquerque, NM needs to purchase one (1) relative gravity meter and shipping case. This equipment is intended to be used for investigating changes in groundwater storage and determining aquifer properties. This equipment will be used to make repeat measurements of gravity at selected sites. The difference in gravity between successive measurements will be a measure of change in the mass of water present in the subsurface at the site. This equipment needs to be compatible with existing gravity equipment and knowledge in the Arizona WSC. AWSC personnel will be training NMWSC personnel for use of the equipment and how to make calibration measurements using relative gravity meter.

ZLS CORP. CALIBRATED SCREW BURRIS GRAVITY METER

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

1. Shall be capable of measuring changes in groundwater storage.

2. Shall be capable of determining aquifer properties.

3. Shall be capable of tracking the subsurface spread of groundwater that is discharged at land surface.

4. Shall be capable of measuring aquifer diffusivity by tracking a pulse of water from a stream into an n aquifer.

5. Shall be a portable, “all-in-one”, sealed, weather resistant type unit.

6. Shall have a metal, zero-length spring.

7. Shall have a data resolution of at least 0.001 mGal or less.

8. Shall have a minimum measurement drift of less than 1.0 mGal per month.

9. Shall have a minimum range of 7000 mGal.

10. Shall have an operating range of -15° to +50°C (5° to 122°F).

11. Shall have rechargeable lithium batteries and charger.

12. Shall be capable of operating at least 10-12 hours on battery power.

13. Shall have a variable recording rate from 1 second to 1 day intervals.

14. Shall weigh no more than 15 pounds (including batteries).

15. Shall be no bigger than 12 inches X 12 inches X 12 inches.

16. Shall include UltraGrav™ electronics and controller.

17. Shall include shipping case for unit.
