Salient Characteristics S15060

The USGS Water Science Center in Lakewood, Colorado needs to purchase three non-contact velocity and stage radar systems. This equipment is intended to be used for non-contact monitoring water velocity and stage.

The equipment is needed for monitoring and recording monsoon conditions (starting in July) and is intended to be installed on bridges or other mounting arms without expensive structural measures in the rivers or channels, thus locating it outside of the danger area during flood events. Therefore, it is imperative that this equipment meet or exceed the requirements below.

RQ-30A, NON-CONTACT RADAR LEVEL/VELOCITY/DISCHARGE SYSTEM

SHALL:

1. Be capable of contact-free measurement of flow velocity using Doppler effect technology

2. Provide analog output of 4 to 20 mA

3. Have the ability to be mounted on various structures, including pipe

4. Be solar powered and operate within a power range of 6 to 30VDC

5. Perform within a velocity range of 0.30 to 15m/s

6. Recognize hysteresis effects

7. Measure in back water

8. Be able to endure harsh environments and be at least IP 67 compliant

9. Perform at a temperature range of -35° to +60°C

10. Provide integrated lightning protection

11. Have a minimum of one each interfaces for SDI-12, RS-485, and 4 for Analog

12. Maintain an accuracy of ±0.02 m/s; ±1%

13. Be capable of single measurement durations of 5 to 240 seconds and intervals of 8 seconds to 5 hours

14. Have a radar frequency of 24 GHz (K-band)

15. Have a distance to water surface range of 0.5 to 35 m and be capable of detecting flow direction in tidal influenced bodies of water

16. Be capable of automatic vertical angle compensation with an accuracy of ±1° and resolution ±0.1°

17. Include communication and operating software

18. Provide integrated lightning protection

19. Communicate via Iridium satellite

20. Monitor temperature and internal/external battery voltage

21. Have an integrated battery charger

22. Include configurable alarm control, LCD display, keypad

SPECIFICALLY MUST INCLUDE:

3 each, RQ-30A, System for non-contact discharge measurement with SDI-12

3 each, 10m Cable for RQ-30, RG-30, USH-8, LiYCY, including configuration and testing

1 each, RQ-Commander Modeling Software, V2.3.3.0

3 each, iRIS 350X-SAT Data logger with Iridium Satellite option

3 each, Beam RST710, Maritime Aerial with Mounting, (Satellite)

3 each, Satellite Aerial Cable, 3 meters

1 each, iLINK, utility program for multiple data loggers

1 each, Null Modem Cable, 9-pin, female to 9-pin female

3 each, iRIS 350FX, 3G/GPRS Data logger

3 each, 6dBi Quadband External Aerial, with 2.5 meter cable and bracket
