Question and Answer Document G15PS00390 Autoclave
1. Will the autoclave be “recessed” through a wall or “free-standing” with a stainless steel cabinet enclosure? A: It will be free-standing.
2. Is building compressed air (75 PSI minimum) available at the autoclave? A: No.
3. The autoclave can be configured with either left or right side service access. Which does the USGS prefer? A: Plumbing on left or back and service access on right or front
4. What floor will the autoclave be installed on? If installed above ground level, is an elevator available to move the unit to its final location? A: 2nd floor with elevator available
5. Is a loading dock available for delivery? A: Yes
6. The delivery date per the Solicitation is July 8th 2015. Our manufacturing lead-time for a lab sterilizer is 8 weeks, with another 5 to 7 working days required for freight transit after receipt of an order AND approved submittals. Is this acceptable? A: Delivery and install anytime from June through September.
7. Inside Delivery with Installation is called out for in the solicitation. In order to prepare pricing for Inside Delivery and Installation Services we would need to perform a walk-thru to view delivery point conditions and ingress routing, along with a review of existing space and utility conditions. Will a site walk-thru by appropriate vendor representatives be allowed? If so, will consideration be given to extend the submission date of the proposal to allow adequate time to schedule a site walk-thru?
A: A site visit is scheduled for 8:00 AM Mountain Time on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the National Water Quality Laboratory at the Denver Federal Center Building 95, Denver, CO 80225. The Denver Federal Center is a secure facility; valid ID (Driver’s license, etc.) is required to access the facility. Vendors may enter the NWQL through the West-facing door toward the north end of the building. Quotes will be due at 5:00pm Mountain Time on 5/21/2015; this is an extension. Phone number for day-of: 303-236-9339.
8. The material around the sterilization chamber is the “jacket.” This provides uniform heat distribution in the chamber and helps to reduce condensate formation. We plan to offer a stainless steel jacket in lieu of carbon steel. Since steam is fed from the jacket into the chamber, a jacket manufactured from carbon steel can cause spotting and staining on instruments. This is why many manufacturers offer a stainless steel jacket as standard. Please confirm that stainless steel is an allowed material of construction. A: Yes.
9. Would a refurbished unit be considered or only a new unit? A: New is required.
