Salient Characteristics S15024

The USGS Water Science Center in Northborough, MA needs to purchase two (2) remotely operated electric boats and repair services for (1) remotely operated electric boat. The boats are used for making safe, unmanned measurements using acoustic Doppler current profiling. The boats will be used in open channels, rivers, or other water ways. Remote control system allows the operator to manually control the operation of the boat for not less than 300 meters from the boat. One of the boats will be used to rebuild an existing Q-Boat system.

OCEANSCIENCE Q-BOAT 1800P

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

New Q-Boats and Components

Q-Boat 1800P Purchase (6000560)

1. Shall be a remotely controlled, electric boat.

2. Shall be made of high impact UV resistant ABS or equivalent.

3. Shall be safety orange in color for safety purposes and high visibility.

4. Shall have stainless steel hardware.

5. Shall not exceed 25kg without payload.

6. Shall have dual motors for control and be 24 VDC brushless outdrives.

7. Shall be capable of cruising speed no less than 4 m/s and top speed of no less than 5 m/s.

8. Shall be have a minimum of three (3) 24 NiMH batteries and include charger and adapter cable.

9. Battery power shall last no less than 40 minutes at continuous cruising speed (4 m/s) at full charge.

10. Remote control shall be capable of operating no less than 300 meters from boat.

11. Shall have dual steering mechanism.

12. Shall have an Omni-directional antenna.

13. Shall operate on remote frequency of 2.4 GHz.

14. Shall be capable of carrying a maximum weight of 30 pounds payload.

15. Shall be capable of mounting ADCP sizes 2 to 9 inch diameters.

16. Shall be capable of internal or external mounting for depth sounder transducer.

17. Must have TRDI RioGrande Instrument Configuration including wiring for ADCP and mounting kit with well seal.

QPB3 (6001371)

18. Shall include battery set of three (3) 24 NiMH battery packs and include chargers and adapter cables.

QRC (6000879)

19. Shall include a spare 7.2v battery for the controller.

Hydrolink-S-900 (6000997)

20. Should include HydroLink-S 900 MHz single channel modems.

21. Must interface with Q-Boat 1800P.

MAXA (6001040)

22. Should include a MaxRad antenna and base, does not include RF cable.

23. Should be compatible with Hydrolink-S radios.
