STATEMENT OF WORK

Replace Windows, Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center, La Crosse, WI

I. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. Introduction

The USGS Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC), 2630 Fanta Reed Road, La Crosse, WI, is an ecological research center administratively positioned within the Department of Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

B. Background

Built on a 65-acre campus, the UMESC office and laboratory complex, originally constructed and occupied during the period of 1975 thru 1978, initially consisted of three interconnected building segments (designated A, B, and C), each with two levels (upper, lower). Segment C was constructed and occupied first, in 1975; Segments A and B, along with the connections between A and B and between B and C, were completed and occupied in 1978. The exterior walls of all segments were constructed of 8” thick, pre-cast, insulated concrete sandwich panels.

C. Scope

The purpose of this requirement is to replace fifteen windows in Segment C that have failed. Replacement windows are required to be 60” X 76” X 1”, tempered, tinted, insulated glass matching existing campus glazing.

I. Work Requirements

A. Description

1. Remove existing caulk, backer board, etc. for proper fit of the new windows.

2. Installation in existing curtain wall frame.

3. Installation of 15 windows, [60” x 76” x1”] tempered, insulated glass with tinting to match existing windows color.

4. Provide new caulk, backer board, etc.

5. Disposal of existing glass.

6. Wash and clean installed glass as needed.

B. Deliverables

Provide and install 15 windows with dimensions of 60” x 76” x 1”. The glass must be tempered, insulated and matching the existing campus glazing. In addition, disposal of the old glass is required along with cleaning the new glass upon completion. UMESC COR (William Skrzymowski) will inspect the project for completion.

C. Government Furnished Property (GFP): NONE

D. Special Considerations

1. Key Personnel Qualifications

All work must be performed by personnel who are experienced and qualified to provide professional service.

2. Safety Requirements

Contractor must perform in a safe manner, observing any necessary safety precautions. The contractor is obligated to perform a thorough inspection each working day of all areas to assure all necessary safeguards relative to safety are being taken.

3. Damage Reporting

In all instances where Government property or equipment is damaged, a full report of the fact and extent of such damage will be submitted in writing to the Contracting Officer and the UMESC COR within twenty-four (24) hours.
