VIII. DESCRIPTION OF THE MARKET RESEARCH CONDUCTED AND THE

RESULTS, OR STATEMENT OF THE REASONS MARKET RESEARCH WAS NOT

CONDUCTED

A. As described in Section VI above, market research, IAW FAR Part 10, was conducted by synopsis of the proposed acquisition, advising industry of the pending acquisition and soliciting inquiries from interested parties.

B. Additionally, the 416th SCMS conducted the following methods of market research:

Performed a search of the following websites in July 2020 using this item’s NSN, part number and noun:

-Google.com -Thomasnet.com These searches did not yield any additional sources of manufacture for this item nor any commercially available products.

Further research in engineering drawings revealed that CPI Varian makes the part number 588R901H01 version of this same tube and is a potential source of supply for the part number 588R901H02 tube. Site visits have been conducted throughout the past year to both CPI and L-3. Coupled cavity electron tube capability and expertise is shrinking throughout the electron tube industry; which was discussed and showcased at great length throughout the site visits.

Annual trade show visits are also utilized to speak with the worldwide F-16 industry in an effort to find additional repair and manufacture sources.

C. Based on the market research conducted, it was determined that there are currently no other sources that are qualified to manufacture these transmitters.
