Answer to RFI- Vent Silencer- 7/30/2019 Questions:
1. Based upon the following data: 300 psi; 1000F, 60 pps there should be a valve Restricting this flow. The above data calculates out to 3,500,000 pph where they Are only venting 216,000 pph.
2. What size is the valve along with the upstream pressure and temperature? This data Is required to calculate the generated sound pressure level discharging from the pipe.
3. If not available, I will base the sound calculations upon 315 psia and 1000F upstream Of the valve.
4. Using this data, the sound pressure level is very loud and the best I can do with respect To the noise criteria is 85 dBA at 10ft perpendicular to the air discharge from the silencer.
(Normally, if you are discharging over 1000F from the silencer, no one will be standing 3ft away)
Answers:
The flow is regulated to 60 pps by an NPS 6 globe control valve as well as an orifice plate. The supply pressure for these valves is 1230 PSIG and they are located more than 50 ft upstream of the silencer.
On a slightly important note, per the specification the temperature is 1250 F and not 1000F.
