Specifications for Medium CNC Vertical Mill

Medium CNC Vertical Mill to be Amera-Seiki VCB-2237, Amera-Seiki VB-1822, or Samsung MCV 850, or approved equal.

Medium CNC Vertical Milling Machine specifications:

• Machining center construction o Base, Bed and Headstock shall be Meehanite Cast Iron o Ways shall be hardened and ground, with precision roller bearings or box ways.

o Protective way covers for all 3-Axes to protect ways and ball screws.

o Base shall include a removable Coolant tank and Chip Tray

• Headstock Specification o Spindle Diameter 4” minimum.

o Spindle drive motor 15 HP minimum.

o Spindle Taper shall be Cat 40 minimum.

o Spindle speeds 2500 to 5000 RPM Range with adequate high speed bearings o Spindle feed motors shall be Fanuc 6 HP Minimum.

o Coolant through Spindle.

• Work Table o Length 78” Minimum.

o Width 33” Minimum.

o Table shall support a minimum of 20,000 lbs.

• Tool Changer(Automatic) o Changer shall handle tools weighing 15 lbs., 6” cutter Dia., and 11” in length.

o Changer Magazine shall hold a minimum of 20 tools, maximum tool size is 3.14”.

• Controls o Fanuc Oi-MD, with 10” minimum Color LCD.

o 320Kbyte/800 Meter Memory.

o PCMCIA Slot for Memory Expansion.

o Helical interpolation and Custom Macro B o AC Digital Servo & Spindle Drivers.

o Heat Exchanger for Electrical Cabinet.

o Machine shall be equipped with Renishaw style probe tooling for part inspection.

o Data Server 256MB (DNC).

• Accuracy o Repeatability for X, Y, Z & A-Axis shall be +/- .0003” o Positioning for X, Y, Z & A-Axis shall be +/- .0005”/12”

• General o X-Axis travel Minimum 80”.

o Y-Axis travel Minimum 33”.

o Z-Axis travel Minimum 30”.

o Automatic Power Off o Auto Lubrication system.

o Rigid tapping capability

Contractor shall provide:

o X, Y, & Z Heidenhain glass scales with purge system.

o Machine shall be built to NFPA 79 and operate with AEDC power system which is

480V, 3PH, 60 HZ or quote package should include step down transformer to machine operation voltage.

o Quote shall include standard Vertical and 90 degree head.

o Quote shall include tool setter if available.

o Full coverage removable splash guards o Machine quote shall include 24 of the required retention knobs.

o Machine shall include lifting, leveling, and floor attachment hardware.

o Operating Manual, Electrical Manual, Mechanical Manual, & Schematics.

o Fanuc Operating & Maintenance Manual.

o Tail stock and A-axis.

o Provide name and phone number of up to 3 facilities presently using this machine.

• Verification

After delivery the Contractor shall test run the machine at the site in accordance with functional tests for accuracy required by ISO/ANSI Standards.

• Warranty o This machine shall be warranted against any defects in material, parts, and workmanship for 24 months after the date of installation. The control, servomotors and main spindle motor are warranted against defects in material, parts, and workmanship for 24 months after the date of installation.

• Maintenance, Parts and Service o The Contractor shall have the capability to service the equipment (labor and parts) beyond the warranty period, or the equipment shall be able to be serviced by a local qualified representative. The Contractor or representative shall be capable of responding to a repair service call on-site within 36 hours and repair parts delivery within 48 hours after placement of order.

• Packaging/Delivery o Provide all preservation, packaging, and packing to ensure safe delivery of the machine and related components to AEDC (FOB Arnold Air Force Base, TN).

Deliver Machine to AEDC for off-loading by AEDC personnel.

• Installation/Training o Installation will be at the Arnold Air Force Complex’s Model Shop, West shop, Building

451. Installation of the machine shall be accomplished by Model shop personnel and supervised by factory trained servicemen. This service shall be included in machine cost. Two day initial training on machine features and operation shall be done beginning at machine startup following machine installation and should be included in machine cost.
