Multifunction Color Copier Questions & Answers – 29 March 2017
1. QUESTION: Please define Used Copiers? There is only “one” manufacturer who can offer used or newly remanufactured copiers that meet the specifications outlined in the RFP. We are asking the government for the used specification be removed to allow fair and open competition.
ANSWER: For this RFP, it is a copier meeting the specifications identified that is from 0 to 3 years old. Ideally we would prefer the overall usage (number of pages printed) to be less than 600,000 copies, however this is not required.
2. QUESTION: We are ask the government to change the “2 large capacity trays with Dehumidification Heater” to read 2 Large capacity trays. There is only one manufacturer that can offer Dehumidification Heater in their LCT which does not allow for fair and open competition.
ANSWER: The “Dehumidification Heater” is a critical element and is a required specification within the RFP. Based on the volume of printing performed, past experience with other machines and the environment for the machine’s site location, the Government cannot accept relaxation of this specification to not include this item.
3. QUESTION: Would the Government accept a near line perfect binder finishing unit? This would allow for more flexibility in finishing and not be tied any individual printing engine?
ANSWER: Due to the number of binded documents produced on‐site, a near‐line or off‐ line Perfect binder finishing unit is not acceptable. An in‐line perfect binder finishing unit provides a complete end‐to‐end solution and avoids increased time and costs in providing this capability by a separate near‐line or off line binder.
