Luke FA8604-22-R-B007 RFP Question set 3 as of 6/1/2022

1. Based on the tray depth requested will a unit depth of 146.97” be acceptable for Unit X&Y under Section 3.2.1?

Answer Question 1 answer: Yes 146.97” is Acceptable.

2. Based on the tray depth requested will a unit depth of 146.97” be acceptable for Unit Z under Section 3.2.1?

Answer Question 2 answer: Yes 146.97” is Acceptable.

3. Based on standard safety practices will a tray capacity of 1,433 lbs. be acceptable for Units X & Y under Section 3.2.5.1. This is limited only because of the requirement for a trolley cart. A safe operating load for a trolley cart is 1500 lbs. maximum. We could offer a unit that will meet the tray capacity however we cannot offer a trolley cart for that capacity.

Answer Question 3 answer: Yes a 1.433 LB capacity tray is Acceptable.

4. Is a tray size of 72.83”W x 42”D acceptable for Unit X &Y under Section 3.2.5.2.

Answer Question 4 answer: Yes, those tray dimensions are Acceptable and within the specification dimensions.

(Appears the minus (-) was deleted in the specification, but it is +/-1” for each).

5. Will a keyless locking system be acceptable for Section 3.2.8.1. A general sign on user name and password would be provided and the operator would open the interior shutter doors only by their passcode and sign on. This will prevent the loss of physical keys but will also allow better security protocol for unit access. Unit access can only be assigned to certain operators and certain storage trays can additionally be set to only access by authorized users if needed.

Answer Question 5 answer: Yes a keyless locking system is Acceptable.

6. Under Section 3.3 trollies is it acceptable if the extractor puts the tray into the access opening and then the operator pulls the tray onto the cart that is locked in place. There are rollers in the access opening to aid movement. Reverse process for putting it back in the unit, operator locks cart in place and then pushes tray into the access opening. An automated system of the extractor pushing the cart onto and pulling from the cart is not possible. It is a manual effort for safety reasons so that the extractor does not force a tray onto a trolley that is not properly locked into place or overloaded that an operator cannot handle manual movements of.

Answer Question 6 answer: Please detail the force required to push a fully loaded tray from access opening to trolley and vice versa trolley to access opening.

Question 2 answer: There is adequate room for a dumpster directly adjacent to Building 930.

3. The contractor information specifies there is staging room available but does not specify where, only the square footage TBD. The same for outside staging. Is there an estimate for how far away the staging area could be from the installation site?

Question Set 1

(1) Can you please clarify the way the dimensions are listed? (D x W and W x D)

* Unit X for (2) & unit Y for (1) dimensions: 136”D x 88”W x 190”H (all +/-2”).

Tray dimensions: 73”W x 41”D, +1”, capacity 1850-lbs.

* Unit Z Qty. (2) dimensions: 136”D x 79”W x 190”H (+/-2”).

Tray dimensions: 65”W x 41”D, +1”, capacity 1100-lbs

Question 1 answer: As shown on AF DRAWING ALK101-01, the unit widths are 87” (UNIT X) AND 79’ (UNIT Y), that corresponds to tray width of 73” FOR UNIT X AND 65” FOR UNIT Y.

(2) Would the following modifications be an acceptable exception to spec?

* For X & Y: 125”D (9” shorter) x 91”W (1” wider) x 190”H With tray dimensions: 75”W (1” wider) x 34”D (+7” shallower), capacity 1653-lbs. (197-lbs lighter)

* For Z: Our 125”D (9” shorter) x 91”W (10” wider) x 190”H With tray dimensions: 75”W (26” wider) x 34”D (7” shallower), capacity 1102-lbs. (OK)

Answer:

Question 2 answer: Those tray dimensions are not acceptable, specifically the depth dimension. The user is trying to store two items on the specific trays one is 34” LONG and the other is 40” LONG, therefore the need for the tray to be minimum 41”. A 34” DEEP tray would alter the planned storage configuration on the tray and reduce the number of items able to be stored on the tray.

(3) Can you confirm the building power is AC, and specify what voltage and phase as well as the distance to the closest junction box for hookup?

Answer Question 3 answer: As indicated on AF Drawing ALK101-01, there are two power panel located on the wall, near the office area. One panel is a 440 volt, 3 phase box, the other 208, 3 Phase. These are an approximate 65’ (Straight shot) from the VLM units. If you run along the wall, it’s approximately 90’.
