Stationary CMM Q&A

1. Have a working envelope of no less than 900mm x 640mm. Question: Does the end user consider the working envelope and measuring strokes to be the same thing?

A minimum of 900mm x 640mm in the X and Y axis for a useable working envelope, meaning actual travel along those axis. After another review of the minimum requirements the overall footprint requirement (#6 in SOW) can be removed because as long as it meets requirement #18 then we can be flexible with overall footprint.

2. Be capable of manual angular control of probe. Question: The end user is looking for a manually indexing probe head (wrist), correct? They do not want a motorized probe head (wrist), correct?

A manually indexing probe head is required; not a motorized probe head. The Renishaw RTP20 was used as a standard. It has a tooling ball on the top of a post mounted on the table that is used to unlock the manual lock on the probe. After it’s unlocked, the software will then move the probe to the desired orientation via the tooling ball. This probe is also able to be unlocked, moved, and locked in the desired orientation manually.

17. Be able to pass through a 42"W x 74"H or 35"W x 83"H doorway for installation at final location. Question: Do they have a forktruck that is capable of even going through this 42” wide door opening?

This is a hard requirement. Equipment or assistance is not provided to the vendor for the install. The vendor will have to handle all rigging themselves, as there are no provisions implied or otherwise in the SOW. This is the biggest opening of the two to the room. The other doorway is smaller and even harder to access because of the physical location of the door being over roof access that does not have the structural capacity to withstand the load. The final position of the machine will be situated in a manner that is consistent with our safety guidelines and therefore sufficient for serviceability.
