Statement of Work for Ion Chromatograph 5000+ Project Title: Analyte determinant in sampling
Document Date: 11 January 2019.
Objective and Scope: USAFSAM/OEA is requesting an Ion Chromatograph Unit
Background: The requirement is for a Thermo Scientific (Dionex) model 5000+ Ion Chromatograph (IC) system for the OEA Industrial Hygiene laboratory. The workload within the laboratory operations has increased, but the present equipment has not reached the end of its lifespan but has been operated very heavily and now requires more maintenance each year. The analyses performed by this equipment constitutes nearly 33% of all the work performed within the lab and we cannot afford to be without their service or backup. One of the two has been down for maintenance nearly every week. It is imperative to have two operational at all times and this purchase of the third instrument will accommodate the need for two always being operational. Also, this purchase would allow us to expand additional capabilities of Ion Chromatography which cannot be accomplished presently with the need for two operational instruments. Cations and Anions will be brought on board with the purchase of this instrument. The 5000+ is an upgrade to the instrumentation the lab already possess and uses to perform the analysis of hexavalent chromium in industrial hygiene samples received by the lab, which accounts for 33% of the work performed. The instrument will be capable of expansion of services to include the analysis of other cations and anions allowing the lab to provide additional services to our client base. The Thermo Scientific (Dionex) provides advanced column specificity for this particulate analysis, not provided by other vendors. Thermo Scientific (Dionex) is the only brand name that can meet the requirement of hexavalent chromium. Since we have previously purchased four ICs from Thermo Scientific, there is a significant cache of parts and accessories available that will not be required to be purchased at a later date or immediately upon receipt in order to initiate or maintain operation. Additionally, the software necessary to operate this instrument is well known by our trained staff, so immediate use of the instrument is expected following installation and validation.
Minimum Requirements: The instrument must accurately and consistently separate and distinguish the analyte of concern during operation. Electrical specifications are standard 110-120 V 60 Htz for 6 plugs necessary to operate.
· Must be able to perform analytical determinations of hexavalent chromium (CrVI) in industrial hygiene samples
· Electrical specifications are standard 110-120 V 60 Htz for 6 plugs necessary to operate
