Questions and Answers Group Five
Clarification regarding the TDP with regards to the PEO and DLC coatings. Specifically, Question and Answers Group One, Question 2 as referenced at bottom of page.
Group Five Question and Answer
Question 1. Clarification for Group One, Question Two: It is understood that the drawings which have already been changed will need to be reverted back to eliminate the coating; however, changes to dimensions of some drawings will need to be kept. When does the Government anticipate to having an updated TDP in order to ensure we are quoting the correct revision/configuration? An example is drawing 201324707 Cam, Cable. It's not on the list of parts that will require coating, but has DLC listed as the finish coating. Do we quote that part minus DLC, but with what type of coating? It’s a new part number that does revert back to an older Rev. Do we look for the old part number and assume the previous coating is what will be put on the drawing once changed?
Answer. All parts not listed in the Change in Coating Direction MEMO will roll back to their respective Revisions, with respect to the TDP. However, for DLC coated parts which have new part numbers and no past Revision to roll to, apply SFL IAW AS5272, Type 3, and Color 2 and mask areas that show no DLC allowed.
Note: Group One, Question 2 posted below to be used as Reference for Question 1, Group Five above.
Group One, Question 2
Group One Question 2: Concerning the TDP released on 7/18/2017 We are also working on solicitation FA8554‐17‐ R‐0004 which has a document titled “Change in Coating Decision” this document shows only 11 parts in the whole MRL assembly to require the PEO and DLC coatings. The TDP has several drawings that are not one of the 11 parts that show PEO and DLC coatings. Is the TDP CORRECT?
Answer to question 2 Group one: The TDP (FA8554‐17‐R‐0005) may have drawings that show PEO and DLC coatings that are not on the “Change in Coating Decision”, if there are drawings with PEO and DLC coatings and they are not on the “Change in Coating Decision” do not coat them. Coat only parts listed in this TDP that are one of the 11 parts on the “Change in Coating Decision” document.
