The cart shall be less than 30 inches in width to allow movement through personnel doors. The entire weight of the system shall not exceed 435 pounds with the 20 meter high tension cable. No transit case is required for the mobile x-ray system.

*Cables. The high voltage cable shall be 20 meters long and sheathed in a protective covering that also covers the cooling water hoses. The power cable shall be 10 meters and have a Hubbell twist lock plug, p/n HBL3521C. A remote control enabling the operator to turn the x-rays on and off shall be provided with a cable at least 25 meters in length.

*Cooling. The water cooled tubehead shall have a 100% duty cycle at 75 degrees F when operated at maximum power output. The cooling unit shall be a self-contained, closed circuit (of a closed- loop design) and shall not contain any toxic chemicals, hazardous substances, or ozone depleting compounds as listed in the Environmental Protection Agency list of pollutants/toxins.

*Input Power. The input power shall be single phase 90-260 volts, 45 to 65 Hz. at 30 amperes maximum.

*X-ray Output. X-ray output shall be 10 to 160 kVcp in 1 kV steps. The wattage on the tube shall be at least 640 watts and 1600 watts while using the 1.0 mm and 3.0 mm focal spots respectively.

*Tubehead. A dual focus 160 kVcp tubehead shall be provided. The tubehead shall be no more than 15 inches in length and with a circumference of no more than 5 inches. The maximum weight shall be 20 pounds. The tube current shall be a minimum of 1 to 4mA while using the 1.0 mm focal spot and a minimum of 1 to 10 mA using the 3.0 mm focal spot. The tubehead shall be end grounded.

*Tubehead Stand. A Tubehead stand shall be provided for each x-ray system. The stand shall have sufficient range to position the tube window to a distance of 77 inches from the floor when aiming horizontally. When aiming at the floor the tubehead stand shall have a minimum range of 48 to 72 inches FFD. The tubehead stand shall have a minimum of 4 axes of movement as follows: 1. vertical, 2. tilt or leveling with the floor, 3. rotation around the tube axis, and 4. rotation around the tubehead stand axis.

*Tube Window. The tube window shall be made of beryllium with a maximum thickness of 1.0 mm.

*Leakage Radiation. The maximum leakage for the tubehead shall be 0.25 Rem per hour at 1 meter from the target with the lead plug or similar device covering the tube window.

*Diaphragms. A set of lead diaphragms and a lead window plug shall be provided.

*Laser Pointer. A lightweight laser pointer which complies with 21 CFR Class 2 1040 shall be provided. The laser pointer shall allow the operator to easily aim the tubehead at the spot required for the exposure.

*Beam Angle. The emergent beam angle shall be 40 degrees.

*Focal Spot. The focal spot size shall be selectable using the control panel and they shall be 1.0 mm and 3.0 mm per EN 12543.

*Exposure Timer. The digital exposure timer shall read in minutes and seconds with a maximum exposure time of 99 minutes.

*Warning Lamp. A fail safe x-ray on warning light shall be provided.

*Interchangeability. The system major components shall be interchangeable with other system major components of the same make and model with no degradation of performance. The interchangeability of major components shall not change the output of the x-ray source by more than +/- 3 percent.

*Warranty. A minimum one year warranty, to include parts, labor and shipping, shall be included against manufacturing defects.

*Miscellaneous. A listing of available accessory items and extended warranties shall be provided. To include test certificate, laser centering device, etc.

*Each water cooled x-ray unit shall include English manuals (printed and electronic copies) for operational and maintenance training, and each unit shall include any special tooling and accessory items that are required for users to operate the x-ray successfully and perform general and routine maintenance as required.

b) Air Cooled Portable X-ray must meet the following features and salient characteristics:

*Each air cooled portable x-ray shall consist of the following items: a directional x-ray tube head, including a beam blocker, control unit, high voltage HV cable and ground cable at least 10 m long, an interconnection cable at least 25 m long, a spare fuse kit (including spare fuses), a mountable laser pointer meeting with 21 CFR 1040, a slit aperture collimator for 10X48 cm film, 700 mm FFD, and an unprocessed slit aperture plate and filter fixture.

*Cart. The system shall be mounted securely on a cart with pneumatic tires to allow ease of movement. Storage of the tubehead while on the cart shall be sufficient to prevent damage while moving the x-ray machine in and between aircraft hangars. The cart shall be less than 30 inches in width to allow movement through personnel doors. The entire weight of the system shall not exceed 435 pounds with the 20 meter high tension cable. No transit case is required for the mobile x-ray system.
