Question Submittal for Solicitation# FA700019QA0003
1. You state, “Must have a detector that provides image areas of at least 70 cm2.” We request the specification be amended to accept a HPAD detector with active area at least 30cm2 as the detector size cannot be specified without relation to the detector type, sensitivity, pixel size, dynamic range, and software strategy, which all collectively contribute to the overall “effective” active area of the detector.
Rigaku can easily demonstrate a 30cm2 Hybrid Pixel Array Detector (HPAD) will achieve faster data collection than a larger 70cm2 CMOS Detector that uses indirect photon counting with a larger 135um pixel size, and non-ideal point spread function.
The HPAD technology has a larger overall “effective” active area than a CMOS detector due to its higher sensitivity (true direct photon counting with no scintillator or light conversion) smaller 100um pixel size with true 1 pixel size point spread function (higher resolving power at shorter crystal-to-detector distances at a larger capture angle) and higher dynamic range (4x106 on ANY time scale with no need for multiple scans or averaging of multiple images).
Rigaku also uses proprietary data collection strategy computations in our CrysAlisPro software that contribute to the most effective use of the detector active area.
Please amend your specification to allow for 30cm2 detector area for HPAD technology.
Answer: Amended to read “Must have a detector that provides image areas of at least 30 cm2.”
2. You state, “Must have a highly-accurate, high-precision, multi-axis goniometer with optical encoders.” Please clarify if you require a Kappa 4-axis goniometer. The Kappa 4-axis is far superior to a 3-axis fixed chi goniometer resulting in large differences in overall measurement time without limitations.
Answer: A 3-axis goniometer is the requirement, though a 4-axis goniometer is also acceptable.
3. You state, “Must include Cu and Mo anode capability.” Please clarify if you require the system to be configured with a Microfocus sealed tube x-ray source and if the system must be configured with Cu or Mo radiation upon installation.
Answer: The system is required to be configured with a Microfocus sealed tube x-ray source and the system must be configured with Mo radiation upon installation.
