One-Meter Telescope Q&As from Solicitation FA700018T0052
Questions & Answers
1. Q. Are we required to provide installation equipment and labor with our quote?
A. Yes, offerors are required to quote for installation equipment and labor. See the “Installation” paragraph (page 6) of Attachment 1 for further clarification to this question.
2. Q. What are the Insurance requirements for install?
A. This requirement is commercial so the Government will not dictate insurance for this requirement.
3. Q. Is there an ASCOM driver available for the ASH-DOME?
A. The system is not currently using an ASCOM driver but can be adapted to use an ASCOM driver. The system can be adapted to use an ASCOM driver and connect to the same dome hardware that is currently installed.
4. Q. If not ASCOM-ready as a stand alone entity.
A. The proprietary control software activates ASH-DOME radio transmitter to control the dome.
5. Q. If not [ASCOM ready], is there a way to send commands to the Dome Controller via a serial port, USB, or TCP/IP including a documented protocol?
A. Answered in Q4.
6. Q. Are there currently limit switches installed for the slit (and if incremental position sensor is there a homing sensor for the dome)?
A. There are indeed limit switches installed on both the upper and lower dome slits. Also, there is a switch installed that stops the dome when it reaches "home" position.
7. Q. Is the contractor responsible for installation?
A. Yes. The contractor must provide for and ensure the proper installation of ALL telescope components, to include any necessary incidental equipment and labor (e.g. crane and operator). The government will not provide any equipment or labor for installation.
