STATEMENT OF WORK

FOR PURCHASE OF MOTORIZED SOLAR SHADES, DELIVERY AND

INSTALLATION

Project Title: Purchase motorized solar shades for windows on 4th floor of library, to include delivery and Installation Project Manager: Robin Witek Project Location: Fairchild Hall Library, Building 2354, 4th floor windows on north and south ends

1. DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

A. PROJECT OVERVIEW FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES: The McDermott Library requires motorized solar shades on the 4th floor, north and south elevations. Only the requirements below are part of this contract.

B. FOR BIDDING PURPOSES

B.1. SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF NEW DRAPERY:

B.1.1. Window treatment installer fabricator shall supply the following:

1. 24 motorized solar shades, Hunter Douglas rollar shades Sheerweave 4800 (1% openness) or equal, color Pewter or equal, for all windows on the 4th floor, north and south elevations. All installations to be outside mount, cover approximately half of the vertical mullions, and should match the existing shades on the 3rd floor, east elevation.

a. Each bay is approx. 26 ft wide x 300 inches high and each requires 2—13 ft wide shades. There are 12 bays total; 6 bays per elevation. (sizes are rounded --field measurements are required)

1. 24 shades total that are each approx.13 ft wide x 300 inches H and are motorized with wall switches to control operations up and down. Motorized operations to be programmable for specific times of the day and to stop at a minimum of 3 predetermined points in the overall height.

2. Existing controls open drapes horizontally. The new window treatment strategy will require opening and closing shades vertically. Installer required to use existing control locations as infrastructure for power is in place.

b. Square fascias in anodized aluminum required to conceal the rollers. These should match the existing shades and fascias on the east elevation on the 3rd floor.

c. All existing drapery, excess electrical control components and operators to be removed and disposed of by solar shade installers.

d. Bids to include all scaffolding as required to remove existing drapery and install new solar shades

e. Bids to include supply and installation of all electrical components and electrical hook ups to complete solar shade installation and enable the shades to operate from control panels on a central wall(s).

B.2. Refer to power point in Appendix 1 for further illustrations of requirements

B.3. Solar shade fabricator shall coordinate all installations with CE Project Managers through the Contracting Officer.

B.4. Each shade fabricator providing bids shall provide fabric samples and hardware information of all items quoted for project.

C. GENERAL PROVISIONS:

C.1 The fabricator shall supply all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, and supervision to provide a complete, finished, functional product meeting USAFA Specifications.

C.2 The work area will be confined to the applicable areas as shown in Appendix 1.

D. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

D.1. Coordinate work schedules with the USAFA Project Manager at least two

(2) weeks in advance.

D.2. Any exceptions to this statement of work must be detailed in the contractor proposal.

E. DELIVERY, SETUP, and CLEANUP:

E.1 The shade fabricator/installer shall be responsible for any clean-up associated with the delivery and installation.

F. BADGING:

F.1 All contractor personnel shall have passes/badges obtained IAW USAFA procedures, not later than one (1) day prior to start of on-site work.

G. ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

G.1 The fabricator shall be responsible for all measurements of the site necessary to complete the installation of the window treatments. Any window treatments that do not fit will be the fabricator’s responsibility to replace with the correct sized panels.

G.2 The Contractor shall be responsible for any damages to the building, its floors, its walls, etc. Any damages incurred by the drapery contractor shall be repaired at the cost of the drapery contractor.
