CONTINUOUS BATCH WASHER SYSTEM

SPECIFICATIONS

Batch washers system 2 each:

The batch washers shall be a counter flow continuous washer, with the capability to be used as a bath exchange and each of the modules shall be provided with one each ten inch drain to insure the capability of draining each module in a maximum of 1 minute from drain start to finish. Each batch washer system must produce a minimum of 1000 Kilograms of aseptically clean heavy terry linen per hour in a maximum of 66 linear feet of floor space in length and a maximum of 48 linear feet of floor space in width to include dryers and other components of the system except the overhead rails. See the attached drawing a floor to ceiling height ranging from 15 feet four inches to 21 feet five inches is available in space indicated. Both systems shall be loaded from overhead via a completely automated overhead rail system. The soiled overhead rail system shall have minimum of five storage rails and one rail shall be designed to bypass the other four lines as required by operator. The overhead soiled storage shall have no less than 75 soiled bags with rail devices capable of holding 50 kilograms of soiled laundry. The soiled rail and conveyor system shall fit in the following available space length 96 feet and width 35 feet. See attached drawing. The clean rail system shall fit into the available space indicated on attached drawing 110 feet by 14 feet, and 48 feet by 16 feet. All obstructions shall be removed and reinstalled by the contractor. The existing soiled rail and sorting platform can be used for the new soiled rail system. All weight scales must be replaced and any controls, lifts and switches that are not operating properly shall be replaced.

The Continuous Batch Washer shall be designed in such a manner that will allow the laundry to reduce its water and sewer saving by no less than 25% annually. FY-14 water and sewage consumption and cost is attached, please see Attachment 5 for further detail. Contractor must present documented evidence that the saving can be achieved. Water lines available for connection to the CBW are sufficient to fill any module in less than one minute. The CBW control and flow mechanisms for each module must be capable of and have automated hot and cold fresh water inlet valves that can fill the module from empty to high level in one minute or less. Each module shall be equipped with steam inlets to inject steam directly below the level of the water to increase water temperature as required by set wash formula. Each module shall be equipped with automatic chemical injection ports that are compatible to all current laundry liquid detergent systems that are on the market, and are injected below the water level line. Each batch chamber of the system shall be equipped to automatically increase, decrease, or maintain water flow and levels of each module. The water level of each module shall be capable of being set in the field manually or electronically. The batch washer shall be constructed in such a manner that during shut down times for breaks or overnight, the wash fluids shall not mix with other compartments. The batch washer must have the capability to be programmed for a minimum of 64 separate wash formulas and have a security lockout system to prevent unauthorized access to programming mechanism. Each of the modules shall have temperature controls and the temperature in each module shall be programmable and controlled by the main control panel. The continuous Batch Washer must be electrically interconnected with complete system and provide complete control of the Continuous Batch Washers and all the components of the system at one location. The system must be completely hands-off after loading sling bags in receiving through the designated dryer and from dryer to clean rail storage point of station drop as designated below. The system shall track all customer designations and maintain batch integrity. The clean system shall have the following clean station drops, one each in front of each flatwork ironer, one 1 each in the small piece folding area one 1 each in the folding area and one 1 each in the laundry press area. The clean sling system shall store linen and other garments in the overhead rail until sling is called for by an operator. All sling systems shall be gravity type except required lifts to raise slings onto the main overhead rails. The flatwork and folding section shall be connected by conveyors so that all items can be shrink plastic wrapped or tied using automatic tiers or wrappers.

The continuous batch washer shall be capable of automatically holding operational progress when any part of the operational equipment has a fault signal. Before resuming operation the fault must be cleared by an operator completely. When the fault is a safety fault in nature no automatic resumption of operation shall occur unless fault is manually cleared. Continuous batch washer and all components shall be equipped with audio and visual alarm signals to signify movement of the components or operational fault is or has occurred.

The wash compartments and all support units shall be constructed of a high grade stainless steel that shall withstand the harsh environment of washroom chemicals and high level of salt and oxidation in the air of Okinawa. All moving part shall be equipped with warning devices or safety guards to prevent accidental contact by employees.

The Continuous Batch Washer shall include automated transfer shuttle conveyors as required to maintain production standard of 1000 kilograms of heavy terry linen per hour per system. The system shall also include an adequate number of dryer to insure no stoppage in wash progress due to dryer unavailable. All dryers shall operate at 100-125 PSI of high pressure steam. Dryers shall be equipped with visible air intake and exhaust temperature gages. The dryers shall include appropriately sized lint collection system within dryers and external lint collectors shall also be provide to prevent any lint escaping into the surrounding work facilities. All existing dryer duct work must be replaced with new duct work. Duct work shall be designed to reuse hot exhaust air from dryer after lint collection. The duct work shall be through the ceiling after the lint collection system. One Continuous Batch Washer system shall be equipped with a centrifugal extraction system for removing excess moisture from garments before loading into dyers. One system shall include a pneumatic extraction system. Both systems must be adjustable for the different type garments being processed. Light extraction to very heavy extraction. These pressure/speeds must be fully programmable in the field and must be capable of being automatically adjusted based on formula process.

Each extraction system shall include the capability to recycle all water extracted from the linen to the first chamber of each continuous batch washer. Each batch washer shall have a holding tank for the extracted water and shall be capable of injecting the recycled water on the first flush in the first chamber of the continuous batch washer. A separate reuse water hold tank may be provided and installed in such a manner that allows both continuous batch washers to use one tank. The water recycle system shall have the capability of not reusing the extracted water in cases where the water is contaminated with dyes or other contaminates. This capability must be programmable in each formula.

Each overhead rail systems shall be completely automated from receiving through wash room to final point of delivery, folding section, press section, flatwork ironing section. The soiled and clean rail system shall have a system to over-ride next sling load so that any sling can be brought forward in the queue for processing. Both pre-rail and after–rail system shall be tied to the main continuous batch washer control console and controlled automatically by lot, customer number or other related method that can keep complete integrity of customer batches.

The continuous batch washer and all related systems must operate on 208 volts with 3 phase 60 cycle.

Any existing overhead obstructions such as lighting fixtures spot cooling ducts and other item that interfere with installation shall be removed and replaced by the contractor.

Both overhead rail systems must be floor supported existing columns and ceiling cannot support any weight.

The laundry must operate from 0700 – 1700 Monday through Friday. The contractor may work, with the prior approval of the Facility Manager and the Contracting Officer, work outside of those hours. During this period a temporary loading system must be provided for the one CBW system that is operational.

Installation of equipment must be phased so that the laundry has one CBW operating during the installation of the other system. The laundry requires that the north CBW be removed first and the new CBW installed and accepted by the government before the south CBW is installed and accepted.

Two set of complete maintenance and operational manuals must be furnished and they shall be in English. If readily available one copy may be in Japanese.

All equipment furnished with the system shall meet or exceed existing commercial code pertaining to such type equipment. The supplier shall insure that the US government charge for the items is not more than they charge their favorite customer for similar items.

The supplier shall provide a standard warranty.
