Fuselage Lift System for Heavy Aircraft

Purpose: Outline Equipment Requirements

Preparing organization:

36th Maintenance Squadron

Andersen Air Base Guam

Purpose: 36MXG would like to purchase 1 each, Fuselage Lifting System for Heavy Aircraft in support of the 36 WG (CDDAR) Crashed Damaged Disabled Aircraft Recovery section. The Fuselage Lift System will be used to aid in removing crashed or damaged aircraft from the airfield at Andersen AFB. It will assure that we have the capabilities to keep our airfield open, in the instance of a crashed, damaged, or disabled aircraft mishap.

Lift System must be capable of lifting the forward fuselage of B-52, B-1, C-17, C-5 aircraft without the system being close to its maximum capacity limits.

Lift system must be modular to conform for maneuverability around different types of aircraft surfaces. Equipment purchases by the government will be brand new. No used equipment.

1. Equipment component requirements

1.1 Spreader Bar –

- Supplied in stackable steel stowage

- Must be collapsible / segmented for storage

- Must span 7.2 meters and have a max lift capacity of 45 Tons

- Must be manufactured from steel, which is easy to inspect and Re-certify unlike carbon fiber alternatives where any damage is difficult to detect without specialist equipment.

1.2 Storage -

- No taller than 90” length x 49” width x 81” height

- Must have at least 4 inches of ground clearance

- Supplied in stackable steel stowage

1.3 Lift Component Specs -

- Sling Safety Factor 7:1 Beam Safety Factor 5:1

- Supplied in stackable steel stowage (Specific items listed in paragraph 2)

1.4 Aircraft Safety -

- Applicable items must be load tested and certified / ready for immediate use
