Arctic Edge Polar Bear Guards Q&A
1. What specific USFWS- trained certifications and, or permits will be required for this contract?
(Section 3(a) of the Statement of Work) The Bear Guards need to have received the Intentional Take Authorization training from USFWS.
2. Will the contractor be able to housed inside the USAF camp?
Contractor is not able to be housed inside USAF tents due to not having enough space for them, but they can camp next to our tents.
3. Will the contractor be able to utilize any of the USAF transportation?
Contractor is not able to be transported via USAF transportation due to no transportation available to Teshekupk Lake and they need to be in place before the LC-130 aircraft get into the
AOR.
4. Will your unit provide radios for communications between the camp and polar bear guards?
Frequencies will be provided, but the contractor will be responsible for providing their own radios.
5. Will there be observation towers on/in/around the camp?
There are no observation towers planned.
6. Are there any other resources that your unit will provide to support the contractor?
No. The contractor is responsible for providing their own resources.
7. Have you contracted private security for this element of your operation on prior missions?
No. There have been no prior missions in Alaska or the US.
