Salient Characteristics

Request that one Avedro KXL System be ordered for the Ophthalmology

Department, 673d Surgical Specialties Squadron. The Ophthalmology

Department currently does not have this new technology.

The Joint Warfighter Refractive Surgery Center (JWRSC) performs refractive surgery on our Active Duty members on an average of 50-70 refractive surgery evaluations per week. There are no other instruments on the market capable of performing at the level of the Avedro KXL System. Having this type of technology at the Joint Warfighter Refractive Surgery Center will provide a complete vision system analysis giving early findings for best choice of refractive surgery procedure and producing optimal outcomes.

The Avedro KXL System is the first true breakthrough in corneal cross-linking.

The KXL® System achieves Accelerated Cross-Linking in just minutes by increasing the UVA power and reducing the exposure time while maintaining the same total energy on the eye as standard cross-linking. It is the first and only cross-linking system manufactured with:

Accelerated Cross-Linking with pulsed or continuous wave illumination The highest power available, up to 45 mW/cm2 Superior top hat beam profile, precise depth of focus Wireless control for beam alignment in the X, Y and Z axes Fully-integrated stable delivery platform Touch screen programming and operation Untethered battery operation for enhanced mobility Procedures performed with the KXL System include Accelerated Cross-Linking and Lasik Xtra®.

These procedures have the potential to:

Enhance LASIK surgery outcomes Restore corneal strength Halt progression of keratoconus and ectasia Slow or eliminate the development of acute keratoconus

The Avedro KXL System Must be mobile

The Avdero KXL System must be compatible with110/120 Voltage

The Avedro KXL System must include 1 Box Photrexa

The Avedro KXL System must include 2 Boxes Photrexa Viscous
