Q1. Is it the intent of the scope of work for both bldg. 804 and 806 to remove only the accessible asbestos pipe insulation and reinsulate only those asbestos portions removed?

All visible and accessible piping must have asbestos removed and reinsulated. The intent is not to open or remove walls to gain access to piping inside the wall, but to abate piping that is accessible or visible on the outside of the walls.

Q2. Is it the intent to remove only loose flaking lead based paint from the interior of the buildings only to the extent that a good adhered edge is achieved?

Yes, only to aid in the abatement of asbestos from surfaces.

Q3. Is any repainting required for any removed loose flaking paint? If yes what paint is to be used?

Use acceptable paint that is used in painting trade practice and matches current and existing colors.

Q4. Removal of pipe insulation may require shutdown of the heating system. Is this possible?

Yes, the contractor must ensure that the interior of building is kept from freezing.

Q5. With the Owner shut down the heating system to allow abatement of steam and condensate piping?

Yes, if required, advanced coordination will be needed prior to shut down. What months are available for heating system shutdown? Normally the 15th of May depending on weather conditions begins the heating shutdown season.

Q6. Will the Owner provide access to secure areas where abatement is to take place?

Yes a government representative will be available to unlock secured areas.

Q7. Will the building occupants move items that are directly below work to be performed to allow access for lifts or ladders?

No, the contractor will need to move items to gain access to perform work.
