Statement of Objective
23 AMXS
Mobile Safety Shelving Unit
Mechanical Assist (hand crank) operation, with leveled and continuously grouted rail, elevated floor and dual entry ramp with black vinyl non-skid finished floor covering. Dual Synchrodrive drive system for driving wheels on both sides of the mobile carriages for even carriage movement, even with unbalanced loads. 4 post adjustable shelving optimized for width, depth and height for maximum density and accessibility for storage.
Carriage System Design and Features:
• One piece fully welded assembly rated for 1,000lbs per lineal foot. Formed structural steel with machined and balanced 5” wheels riding on steel rails surface mounted to floor.
• Fabricated to ensure no more than 1/4 inch (6MM) maximum deviation from a true straight line.
Provide fixed carriages of same construction anchored to rails.
• Interlocking system to allow the shelving uprights to recess and interlock into the carriages a minimum of 3/4 inch (19MM).
Movement Controls:
• Triple arm operating wheels with rotating hand cranks accessible on drive ends of shelf units, centered on the end panel, located 40 inches from the base of each unit to permit units to be moved to create a single aisle opening.
Drive and Guidance System:
• Dual synchronized drive system to minimize end play (ensures there is no play in the drive handle), and that carriages will stop without drifting.
• Chain sprocket drive system for each movable carriage to ensure that carriages move uniformly along the total length of travel, even with unbalanced loads.
• Drive system gearing permits a maximum of 5lbs. of force applied to the drive handle to move a minimum of 4,000 lbs. of load.
• 5” precision machined wheels with two permanently lubricated and shielded ball bearing assemblies
• Tensioning device shall be provided on each chain drive with provision for adjusting tension without removing end panels.
Rail / Grout:
• One piece Center Flanged, 5/8” minimum width, installed level, fully grouted underneath and anchored to the concrete with manufacturer specified anchoring system. 1045 hardened bar inset into an extruded aluminum alloy channel.
Safety Features:
• 3’ high extruded aluminum safety brakes (safety sweeps) provides full aisle protection for people and objects in the open aisles of the mobile storage system by automatically stopping carriage movement upon contact with an obstacle. Safety sweep runs the full length of both sides of each movable carriage for full aisle coverage. Pressure applied at any location along the leading edge of the safety sweeps activates the brake that immediately stops carriage movement.
• Color-coded visual indicators provide verification that carriages are in a locked or unlocked mode. A single safety lock button, mounted on each operating wheel hub, will permit moving a carriage in either direction to create a new access aisle when pulled out (unlocked), or locking the carriage when pushed.
Finishes:
• High Pressure Laminate End Panels with Steel Cardholders on both ends. Fabricated metal includes standard powder coat paint finishes, factory applied. Carriages, shelving & drawers to be matching colors.
Workbench:
(24) 6” high drawers with (8) compartments each, (3) open shelves in the center of workbench. Drawers to include life time warranty on roller guides, flip up handles. 1¾” thick Wood Top oven dried, top quality grade, combination of Maple and Cherry constructed with 1½” to 2” wide stripes of wood glued together. Tops are sanded, sealed, varnished (semi-gloss on all 6 faces) with bullnose rounded edges on front side.
Contractor Requirements:
• Contractor is to provide a detailed proposal including Drawings showing the design of the storage system.
• A comprehensive and professional proposal including literature from the manufacturer providing specifications showing compliance to the above minimum requirements.
• Contractor is to provide installation services of the storage system to be performed by factory trained and certified installers.
• Experienced installers who are the manufacturer's authorized representatives for the specified products for installing carriages and anchoring shelving units to carriages. Minimum Qualifications:
Installer to be factory trained and certified with minimum 2-years’ experience.
Manufacturer Requirements:
Experienced manufacturer who is ISO 9001 certified for the design, production, installation and service of carriage mounted high-density mobile storage units and support rails. Furnish certificate attesting manufacturer’s ISO 9001 quality system registration. Manufacturer must be ISO 9001:2008 certified for a minimum of 5 years. Certification from ISO required with proposal. Other ISO certifications not acceptable. Or submit entire detailed manufacturer’s quality control program. Manufacturer must have a local dedicated Area Contractor / Dealer / Distributor actively servicing the location, with a proven track record of installing and servicing the manufacturers mechanical operated high-density storage systems.
