SUBJECT: Request For Information – FA4819-17-Q- 3079, Metal 3D Printer

This is a Request for Information in order to seek out any and all sources that may be able to provide the attached item specifications for a Metal 3D Printer. This is for Market Research purposes only and does not constitute any means of a solicitation for these products. If a quote is provided based upon this request it will be solely used for market research and will not be used in any binding form to the Government.

3D Metal Printer System Requirements:

Procurement of a 3D Metal Printer System consisting of six (6) items to include:

Item 0001: 3D Metal Printer Item 0002: Debinder Station Item 0003: Microwave-Enhanced Sintering Furnace Item 0004: Software Item 0005: Materials and Supplies Item 0006: Installation, Training, One-Year Warranty and Shipping

Equipment must meet following specifications:

1. 3D Metal Printer Specifications:

1.1 Printer must employ bound metal deposition (BMD)

1.2 Build volume must be at least 12,585 cm3 (30.5 x 20.5 x 20.5 cm, width x depth x height (WDH))

1.3 Post processed parts up to 25.5 x 17 x 17 cm (WDH)

1.4 The printer must be equipped with dual quick release print heads, with 0.4‐mm nozzles

1.5 Precision ball screws must provide gantry movement

1.6 Printer must support a minimum layer height (Z direction) of 50 m (0.05 mm)

1.7 Printer must be capable of printing at least 16 cm3/hr and support a part build up to 10 kg

1.8 The build bed must be heated glass capable of temperatures up to 120 °C

1.9 The extruder calibration and bed leveling must be automatic

1.10 The build chamber must be able to heat up to 50 °C

1.11 The unit must fit through any doorway and be easily transportable

1.12 The unit must be office safe without any external exhaust necessary

2. Debinder Station:

2.1 A debinding station shall be included

3. Microwave‐Enhanced Sintering Furnace:

3.1 The sintering furnace must provide temperatures up to 1400 °C via a hybrid microwave‐convection system

3.2 The furnace must have a volume capacity of at least 12,585 cm3 (30.5 x 20.5 x 20.5 cm, WDH)

3.3 A carbon retort must be provided

3.4 The unit must be capable of accepting onboard gas cylinders (900‐L or larger) and have at least two external gas connections to provide the purge or forming gases

(argon and nitrogen)

3.5 The furnace and the printer must communicate to provide for pre‐programmed sintering profiles based on part geometry and material

3.6 Sintering process must be capable of being fully automated

3.7 The furnace must be equipped with replaceable filters and disposable cold trap liners to control vapors during sintering

4. Software:

4.1 The printer and furnace must be provided with software that allows for communication between the units

4.2 The printer must be capable of accepting multiple file formats to include STL. IGES, STEP, Solidworks, and ProE

4.3 Both the oven and printer must be equipped with a touchscreen user interface to monitor and control print jobs

5. Materials and Supplies

5.1 The system shall be provided with materials, print supplies, furnace gases, filters and other items or spares as required to maintain the system

6. Installation, Training, Warranty and Shipping:

6.1 Units must be installed by factory personnel

6.2 Initial training provided during installation

6.3 Units must be provided with a one‐year warranty

6.4 Shipping must be included in final price

6.5 System will be shipped within 120 days after contract award to: Tyndall Air Force

Base FL, 32403.
