Question and Answer – 01

Question - Please explain the referenced P/N 9D01164-902. The drawings do not reflect this part number.

Answer – Part Number 9D01164-902 was the previously used part number for this item. It was included by mistake and is incorrect. The correct part number for the MAAS Trailer is 201018515. This part number should be utilized from this point forward.

Question – Are all the items identified in the drawings required to produce this item? Some items such as tool kits are not a part of the trailer itself.

Answer – While all drawings provided under this solicitation are a part of the total MAAS Trailer system, not all will be required. The intent is to purchase the ‘basic’ trailer. To identify which items are required and which aren’t, an excel sheet has been developed identifying which drawings should be utilized. This spreadsheet identifies each drawing with a Y for yes (required) and a N for no (not required). The sheet has been uploaded to FBO under this notice as ‘Required MAAS Trailer Drawings’ and will be provided to all contractors who have received drawings and in all future drawing packages. Please use this sheet to identify components that do not need to be provided under this contract.

Question – Can you please provide pictures of a Mobile Aircraft Arresting System (MAAS) Trailer?

Answer – Pictures have been included attached to this notification. Please note, a serviceable MAAS Trailer is not available for photographs. These pictures are of a trailer that has been decommissioned, and are only intended as examples.

Question – Besides being a completely independent contractor, what are the specific requirements or certifications that the “Third Party” utilized in First Article Testing must possess?

Answer – This facility will be an unaffiliated arms-length, 3rd party lab with ISO 9001 certification. EVERY dimension, material, welding certification, coating, etc. in the entire drawing package must be verified . In simple terms, if it CAN be verified it IS REQUIRED to be verified. The contractor needs to obtain and produce all certification records (material, quality, process, welders etc.)for the lab to review, and the lab must verify through testing everything that can be done nondestructively.

Question – Concerning Tape Guide System: Drawing 201018745: Not enough detail is provided to produce this item. Since it is a “critical safety item,” how shall the contractor produce this item?

Answer – Additional drawings have been identified that provide the information required to produce this item. These drawings will be provided to all companies who have requested a data package, and included in any future data packages.
