MACD201-001 TITLE: Installation Support

TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Security, Engineering, Human Resources, Communications, Business Systems, Logistics

DESCRIPTION: The 6th Air Refueling Wing is a team of mission-ready warriors and professionals delivering innovative Agile Combat Support, enabling a full range of missions across MacDill Air Force Base. Operations include maintaining security of the base, maintenance of communications infrastructure, facilities construction & maintenance, medical clinic operations, procurement, accounting, logistics, human resources, food services, community services, and media relations. The Air Force wishes to stay at the cutting edge of these various functions and technologies and is looking to partner with innovative small businesses that may have solutions to Air Force challenges. The Problem Statements listed below are high level challenge areas for MacDill Air Force Base for Pitch Day that will occur on 22 January 2020:

1. 6th Operational Support Squadron

a. Current Hurricane/Weather predictive tools and systems don’t provide accurate, long-term information for direct local impact.

b. Need to improve Electromagnetic Pulse Protection/Hardening capabilities.

2. 50th Air Refueling Squadron

a. KC-135 Fleet lacks onboard air conditioning and cooling systems for planes on the ground during preflight.

b. Interior lighting in the KC-135 cargo compartment is antiquated and causes safety hazard for crew.

c. Crews currently have to use seatbelts to secure items like water jugs and tool boxes.

3. 91st Air Refueling Squadron

a. KC-135s have bathrooms with two urinal tubes and a sit down toilet but sometimes require workarounds that are less than desirable.

4. 6th Maintenance Squadron

a. Scheduling software for aircraft maintenance efforts

5. 6th Security Forces Squadron

a. Waterside Security

6. 6th Force Support Squadron

a. Workforce management/scheduling technology

b. HR In/Out-Processing procedures are currently accomplished via paper and drives HR workforce to manually input information which results in unstandardized and often outdated information.

c. Many base employees can’t access FSS online tools/marketing campaigns/program and event information because they don’t have access to Wi-Fi.

7. 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron

a. Organized Automated Inventory System

b. Simulated/VR vehicle ops license training

8. 6th Civil Engineer Squadron

a. Energy Saving (Green) technologies

The Air Force is interested in exploring innovative technology domains that may not be covered in the list above, so this topic is intended to also be a call for open ideas and technologies that cover other related areas not currently listed (i.e. the unknown-unknown). This topic is meant for innovative solutions to be adapted in innovative ways to meet DoD stakeholders’ needs in a short timeframe and at a low cost.
