3JCS TACCP Tent Purchase Page 2 Salient Features The Joint Communications Support Element requires 7 tents/shelters to meet a Combatant Commands requirement for a rapidly deployable lightweight communication center.
The shelter will incorporate a unique external folding-frame design and a climate controlled liner system integrated for HVAC systems. The tent shelters must meet TEMPEST guidelines of EMI shielding of at least 85db, and contain Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) signals generated by equipment within the shelter.

Shelters will need to come in different sizes to meet operational requirements. The goal of the main tent is to be 60’ long, but may be supplemented with 2 combined tents for a total of greater than 60’. Tents need to have the ability to be used as a standalone shelter or easily connected to other shelters using a connector set, essentially connecting at one end to another for extended lengths. The main tent of 60’ or combination of two 30-40’ tents, will need to have six openings to connect surrounding tents. The shelter needs to protect sensitive electronic equipment from the effects of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and weather. There needs to be ground level sealable holes for cables to run into the tents.
Tent Fabric Specialty fabric is required to adhere to the performance requirements for MIL-PRD 44103. The fabric needs to be waterproof and durable enough for any tactical operating environment. Tent floor needs to be made from water proof rugged material that is attached to the shelter structure and is capable of withstanding deployed field conditions and have floors installed on top. Outer Solar Shades are needed to protect tent fabric from deteriorating, as a result of extended periods of sun exposure.
Tent Frame Each tent frame needs to be foldable and strong enough to withstand harsh field conditions, including heavy winds. Also needs to be relatively easy to setup with grounding stakes available.
Packaging Shelters need to be packaged in rugged bags equipped with carrying handles for personnel to easily carry and transport.
Setup The standard setup needs to be no more than 3-5 people on each tent and take no longer than an hour.
