Specifications: Remote-Control Unmanned Target Vehicle

Remote-Control Unmanned Target Vehicle and Portable Self-Contained Ground Control Station w/ Semi-Autonomous operations with a 10 mile range capability. All proposed items shall meet the minimum specifications listed below:

Midsize 4x4 Truck (i.e.; Tacoma or equal) with the capability to go off-road and operate on uneven terrain, mud, sand, thick vegetation and use within an urban area. All exposed glass and mirrors will be removed. (due to combat laser operations requirements).

- Steering: The vehicle shall have the following remote capabilities:

- Maneuverable at speeds between 0-60 MPH

- Accelerate on the straight portion of a semi- improved road to a safe speed above 50 MPH

- Decelerate to approx. 10 MPH then make a 180 degree turn back on the corridor.

- Throttle shall be remotely controlled to provide a safe, smooth, controlled acceleration and deceleration.

- Capable of performing U-Turns, K-Turns and Backing up

- Brake Control: The braking system shall be remote and integrated into the existing system.

- Remote Controlled Starter: The unmanned ground vehicle shall be capable of starting from a remote site.

- Enhanced Lost Link Shutdown: Safety feature shall be included in the event communications is lost with the unmanned ground vehicle.

The vehicle will shift into neutral, brakes applied and the engine will shut off in the event communications is lost with the vehicle.

- Fixed Mounted Camera for Steering: The camera is designed to give the ground controller the ability to continue to operate the vehicle when a clear line of sight is obstructed. The camera shall provide a video feedback to the controller to give him the capability to operate the unmanned vehicle through the camera. The camera will be servo mounted to give the controller 180 degrees field of view required to have the ability to see as if sitting in the driver’s seat.

- Video Downlink: A real time video downlink capability will be linked to the camera system. A GPS antenna will be mounted on the unmanned ground vehicle for accurate location, speed, elevation, date and time.

- Low Light Camera: Both day and night quality video for driving and recordable operational feedback.

- Operating Frequency: Will avoid interference with current systems on the range complex.

- Environmental Fluid: Bio-degradable fluids will be used and shall be kept to minimum levels to mitigate environmental hazards. The vehicle shall run on unleaded regular fuel and be able to hold enough fuel to conduct at least 3 hours of driving without having to refuel.

- Night Driving: Vehicles shall have the capability of being utilized at night with remotely controlled running lights, and/or headlights.

- Traction: The unmanned ground vehicle is capable of towing/pushing large objects, (i.e. vehicles, trailers.)

- Paddle Tires and Rims: Tires Spec: 32” x 12” 6 Ply Desert Masters Wheel Spec: 15 x 10.

- Control System: The system will have capability to allow for expanded future capabilities.

- Expand to S and C band video transmitter.

- Capable to perform a minimum of 8 separate operations.

Trailers: Quantity: 3. Each trailer will be constructed with 2” x 2” angle iron for a 5’ x 15’ frame supported with a single axle. The tongue is constructed with tube steel that is retractable from 5’ to 15’ to a maximum trailer length of 30’. There will be a removable tow hitch at the rear of each trailer to attach multiple trailers for a maximum length of 90’.

Self-Contained Ground Control Station: Portable and light weight, Power supply options, 12v DC or 120v AC. The GCS will provide recordable operations directly from the video feed from the unmanned ground vehicle. Head down Control/Operations, L band Transmit/Receive video (S & C band options), GPS tracking. Vehicles shall have the capability of being controlled up to 10 miles from the ground control station. This can vary depending on terrain and weather condition. The following items are included in the Ground Control Station: (Remote Control)

- MVR IV Video Receiver w/Hardened Case

- Rechargeable Battery w/Battery Charger

- Futaba (or equal) 14MZ Transmitter

- 30 Watt Amplifier

- DVD Recorder

- Flat Panel LED Monitor

- Power Supply and Inverter

- Ground Control Station: (Semi-Autonomous) Real time re-tasking via GCS computer, Emergency shut off switch at the GCS with independent out of band RF link

- Laptop interface box with VHF Datalink, Datalink laptop interface board and Rugged Enclosure.

- VHF Antenna

- RF Cables

- Data and Power Cables

- Laptop with GCS autopilot Control Software Suite

- Antenna Kit with the following: 72 MHz Antenna (FM Band) Yagi Antenna (L-Band). 50ft. Antenna Cable (Duel Cable)
