About this file

This document outlines salient characteristics for a mobile shelving system procurement by the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command. The shelving system must allow for maximizing storage capabilities within existing structure dimensions of 106" height, 263" length, and 6' depth. Two non-stationary cabinets of specified dimensions are also required for consumable material storage. The mobile shelving units must be bolted to the floor or rail system for stability and include carriages for storage. When not in use, sliding cabinets must secure to stationary cabinets for asset security. Work and access areas must allow for safety and ease of use. Delivery and installation are required along with user orientation and replacement of damaged parts during installation. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number FA480923Q0102 for rolling shelves from the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command.

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS FOR MOBILE SHELVING SYSTEM

The mobile shelving system is a storage system that would allow the Aircraft Structural

Maintenance section to maximize storage capabilities and security measures. At this time storage area on hand does not meet requirements and area is unsafe with a high potential for lost tooling due to inability to maintain items in a smaller foot print.

The mobile shelving system must have the following Salient Characteristics:

• Must be stationary with no excessive damage done to existing building structures. Would request that unit is bolted to floor for stability where applicable. If unit is to exist on rails, subfloor railing system must be provided.

• Unit must provide carriage capabilities that allow for maximization of storage on hand to meet tool crib existing structure. Recommended size of unit in operational capacity would be required to work within the following specified dimensions: 106” (inches) Height x 263” (inches) Length and x 6’ (feet) depth.

• When mobile shelving system is not in use, sliding cabinets must be securable to stationary cabinet to assist in security of assets being maintained within system.

• When units are open there must be a working area suitable for safety and ease of access in working with tools.

• Require qty (2) separate, nonstationary, cabinets for consumable material storage to match mobile shelving system not to exceed the following dimensions: 28” (inches) height x 60” (inches) Width x 27” (inches) Depth. Shelving must also be securable with lock and shelving inside.

• Require qty (2) cabinets must not exceed the following dimensions: 99” (inches) height x

48” (inches) width x 24” (inches) Depth. Would request a minimum of 5 drawers that are

10” (inches) in height apart, with 2 shelves that are 21.5” (inches) above with backing for consumables access. Drawers must be on slides for accessing to distribute consumables.

• Unit delivery to include freight, inside delivery, installation, and removal of freight material following successful install.

• Company must replace damaged/shorted parts during installation should incidents arise.

• Company must provide complete user orientation of equipment to assigned personnel within tool crib.
