3D Scanner Contractor Proposed Questions
Q1: Do they need MasterCAM? Or already have it?
A1:
The Metals Technology Section currently has a 1 “seat” for MasterCAM that is used for 3D tool paths, manufacturing, and posting code to the physical machines under a yearly subscription until Feb 2022.
We are requesting 2 additional MASTERCAM “seats” for this requirement.
Q2: Does any reverse engineering software that create and CAD model (.iges or .step) that they can then import in MasterCAM acceptable?
A2: To meet the current training and support requirements of our MasterCAM suite we require Verisurf software. This is made by the same company as MasterCAM and is designed to work in tandem.
Q3: Do they need a computer to run the scanner? Or they will source it separately? (The scanner require a pretty specific computer to operate)
A3: The Metals Technology Section currently has a compatible computer.
Q4: Do they need training for the scanner and reverse engineering software?
Q4:
Initial training on the HANDYSCAN by the contractor is preferred but not required as this training is available through the Metals Technology Career Field Office.
