Attachment 6 Pre-Proposal Offeror Questions and Government Responses Repair Bldg. 521 Parking Lot

FA4528-18-R-0007

30 April 2018

1. Q: Will we be Milling, Stablizing or replacing the 2”?

A: The full depth of the pavement shall be milled and the millings shall be turned over to the Minot AFB in a designated area. Measurements indicate the existing asphalt layer is 2". The base course beneath the asphalt layer will be stabilized after the asphalt layer is removed. Then a 2" lift will be placed on the based course.

2. Q: With all the heavy equipment in the area don’t you think it should be at least 6 inches of asphalt?

A: Asphalt derives its strength from the strata beneath it. More asphalt would help if the base course and subbase course were bad. Based on how long the current asphalt has lasted, I believe that stabilizing the base course and using 2" again will be the most cost effective way of providing a long lasting pavement.

3. Q: Will the concrete be staying or are we getting rid of it?

A: All the concrete in the area will be left as is
