1. Please have your client provide a list of actual materials to be cut and their respective thicknesses.

Primary products will be aircraft anti-skid/nonslip solid grit adhesive backed paper, ~0.066 thick. We also need the capability to cut up to 0.080 stainless steel and 0.0625 aluminum sheet product.

2. Have they test cut their materials using a 1000 watt laser and found it to be adequate power?

No, this is our first attempt to purchase a laser cutter of any type.

3. What is the cutting speed and tolerances?

Standard machining tolerances within .001” cutting accuracy would be sufficient; cutting speed between 75 and 175 inches per second are acceptable.

4. What type of engraving will they be doing raster (logos/signage) or Vector (serial or part numbers)?

Our primary purpose will be the cutting of metal and anti-skid products to support our aircraft fleets, but we would like to have the Rastor and Vector capabilities included.

5. Spec said maintain focus while cutting warped (Metal). Do you have a print of a part that shows a typical warped metal part. This will determine what type of Auto Focus will be required.

We do not have print of a warped material requirement available, but understand that all metal and non-metal products are entirely true--we require an active height-following head to accommodate any variances.

6. If cutting will your client be providing the gases?

Yes, we will provide the required gases.

a. What cutting gases are they providing Laser Gas, Plant Air, Nitrogen, and or Oxygen? Our intention is to use plant air and bottled nitrogen as our primary means, oxygen as a back-up capability.

b. What gas pressures do they have/want for Laser Gas, Plant Air, Nitrogen, and or Oxygen? At least 5 gal/min. Shop air requirement is 100 psi.

c. Are they providing gas cylinders or do they have a plant supply? We will provide our own gas cylinders.

d. Are the gases clean and dry or do we need to provide a Filter Dryer Regulator? A filter dryer regulator is required from vendor.

e. Do they need a Gas pressure switch if gas runs out? Yes, we need a gas pressure switch from vendor.

f. Are they providing the regulators for all laser gases? No, vendor will supply gas regulators.

7. I see we would need to supply an exhaust fan.

a. Mount the fan where; off floor, ceiling, on roof, where dose our responsibility end with regards to exhaust? Would we be required to seal roof penetrations, make architectural plans to modify or mount to the building, do roof asbestos testing? What is the length from the roof opening to the fan location to the machine or do we not care? We require wide-spectrum fume extraction and exhaust capability at the source. Any external exhaust (through walls, roof, etc.)

would be accomplished by us via CES assist.

b. Bid Spec includes a 4 zone gate valve manifold dividing flow into what exactly (4) 6” exhausts or what? We require 4-zone gate valve manifold, preferably integrated flow into a single exhaust.

c. 4 zone gate valve manifold is it manual or automatic? Manual gate manifold.

i. Does there need to be four gate valves one for each zone? Yes

ii. What are the sizes of the (4) zones? Not certain exactly how to answer this question, but we would require the zones be fully integrated into the cutting table.

iii. Where does the manifold mount and do we supply the mount? Vendor would supply the manifold; mounted/located in close proximity to the cutter.

8. The laser system needs to be installed in a temperature control environment stability 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Does your client have this in their facility?

Yes, we have a sustainable climate controlled environment for the machine.
