RFQ# FA441719Q0182 - 1SOCONS Furniture; Site Visit Questions and Answers

Question 1: “Many of the areas do not have adequate space for the typicals/size of typicals requested in

1.0 scope after verifying our measurements from the site visit. (For example, open area in PKA space will not have the minimum requirement of aisle ways around the 6’ x 5’-6” cluster of 12, taking into consideration the panel widths/depths.)

a. Should we price the typicals requested on the original scope or adjust the typicals in order to fit the typicals in the space and price as such?”

Answer: As a part of the design services required by paragraphs 1.6 and 2.2, contractors will be required to perform a site visit and provide a final design with product and measurements that will fit the space. Product and measurements were provided to the best of our ability. It is understood that the actual site parameters or certain customer requirements may deviate from the standard typical layouts and listed modifications; therefore any deviation that causes an increase in the price submitted during the bid process must be documented in writing and submitted to the Contracting Officer for review, along with a floorplan reference, to show just cause.

*Question 2: “Concerning the power system utilized in the systems furniture panel. I would like to ask if matching the existing products power system which uses a separate neutral for each of the 3 circuits and which matches the buildings power configuration is a requirement?

If the current request is to allow shared neutrals NEC now requires upgrading the building electrical system with pole breakers (see attached). Upgrading the buildings power system could easily cost as much as the furniture itself. The specification below if incorporated into the scope of work would ensure no upgrade to the buildings power is needed.

The panel systems 8-wire electrical configuration shall be a 3+3+2 (3 Hots, 3 Neutrals, 2 grounds [1 Isolated], 20 Amp systems. If a vendor does not offer a 3+3+2 a 10-wire 4+4+2 (4 Hots, 4 Neutrals, 2 grounds [1 Isolated]) 20 Amp system will be accepted. Shared neutral systems such as a 3+D (3+1) or 2+2 will not be considered technically acceptable.”

*see attachment 1

Answer: Upgrade of the buildings power system is not an option. The contractors product will need to work with the existing electrical. Contractors product and accessories shall include all items necessary to accomplish the tie into existing building electrical.

Question 3: It was mentioned during the site visit that demo and installation will need to be phased. Is that accurate?

Answer: Yes, demo and installation will need to be phased. One section will need to be complete before moving to the next section. The schedule will be finalized with which section will be completed first, second, etc with the awardee after contract award is made.

Question 4: “Per Scope of Work, Paragraph 1.4 states “No outlets or cabling shall be on the baseboards or under the desk.” Is this referring to the source of power (i.e. power poles) being used to connect power from the ceiling to run power or just cabling for Comm/data?”

Answer: This is referring to the channels to run cabling through and the outlets to plug into. The intent of this requirement is to ensure that the communications squadron at Hurlburt Field is not having to connect communications under the desk.

Question 5: “Is it acceptable to run power from a power pole to the base of the panel? Is a power/data module needed to give the end-user easy access at the work surface height?”

Answer: If the base of the panel is at the bottom, this is not acceptable. Yes, the power/data module is needed to give the end user and communications squadron easy access at the work surface height.

This will be the new standard in all modular furniture requirements procured by Hurlburt Field Contracting.

Question 6: “Is a “top channel” within the panel an acceptable solution to run cabling?”

Answer: Yes, this is acceptable.

Question 6: “Is Beltway power required?”

Answer: The electrical requirements are detailed in the typical attachments. Anything not specifically detailed in the typical is not required unless it is necessary to successfully install the furniture to meet the requirements in the Statement of Work. Although beltway power is not specifically spelled out, if it is required in order to meet the requirements identified in the Statement of Work, contractors shall provide it.
