Yamaha Sound System Equipment (Brand Name or Equal) Salient Characteristics
31 July 19
The salient characteristics are applicable to the items listed below and are required to accomplish the mission of the Band of the West. The following line items with descriptions are brand name or equal:
For line items 1-11, Dante Audio over IP networking is the standard, native protocol that has been chosen as the end-to-end audio distribution method. This protocol is widely implemented across the audio industry and allows for a multitude of possibilities for interconnection and expansion with other equipment in the live sound and recording studio sectors. This protocol must be built into/compatible with the products requested above, ensuring that the equipment is ready, out-of-the-box, and without added options for seamless interconnection with minimal configuration and set-up. This is important as the Band of the West currently uses the Dante based system, therefore, purchasing equal equipment according to these specifications to outfit our remaining groups will inherently create seamless compatibility and equate to infinite scalability for larger events.

The following list of characteristics is specific to the aforementioned line items:
Line Item 1. The Large Format digital audio console must have at least 64 mono + 8 stereo mixing channels with 32 local analog inputs and 16 local analog outputs. With the addition of remote stage boxes, the input and output capacity should have the ability to be maximized to take advantage of the full 72 channels. The console must also have a minimum of 16 mix buses, 8 matrix (Input to Matrix supported), Dante Primary and Secondary I/O ports, 2 or more expansion slots, and 1 local AES/EBU digital output port. Additionally, the console must incorporate built-in head amp Gain Compensation and Digital Gain, making it possible to have multiple consoles in the same system sharing inputs. A 10” minimum onboard touch screen display is required to enhance local control, while making quick adjustments and reducing the amount of menu navigation needed to make changes. Additionally, seamless integration with computers, digital tablets, or phones (running free compatible applications) to allow engineers and musicians to make remote adjustments to any input, output, mix, or matrix is required.
Line Item 2. This Road Case is required to be manufactured as a three part (Nose cap, top lid, and console tray) case using a laminated (black color) 3/8” plywood exterior with a black texture coated 3/4” Baltic birch folding doghouse, heavy duty casters, handles, latches, and ball corners for ease of loading and transport as well as maximum protection of the equipment. The internal dimensions of the case must be manufactured to the dimensions of the large format digital console using a precision cut, high-density foam interior to cushion and protect the mixer while in transport and set-up.
Line Item 3. The Small format digital audio console must have at least 32 mono + 8 stereo mixing channels with 16 local analog inputs and 8 local analog outputs. With the addition of remote stage boxes, the input and output capacity should have the ability to be maximized to take advantage of the full 40 channels. Also required is seamless integration with computers, digital tablets, or phones (running free compatible applications) to allow engineers and musicians to make remote adjustments to any input, output, mix, or matrix. This console is the smaller channel count version of the large format digital audio console (line item #1), so it would also function as a short term back-up, small format replacement for smaller gigs, or an expansion desk of one of the compatible large format consoles to increase the channel count and processing for a gig.
Line Item 4. The internal dimensions of the case must be manufactured to the dimensions of the small format digital console using a precision cut, high-density foam interior to cushion and protect the mixer while in transport and set-up.
Line Item 5. The digital IEM/Monitor mixer must have 40 mixing channels and be a compact rack mount mixer, which will be used as an in-ear monitor mixer for our musicians. Using this console, musicians must be able to connect to it via a digital tablet or phone to adjust their own personal mix using a free, compatible mobile application. The console must have 16 analog mic/line inputs, 1 stereo (RCA) line input, 16 analog outputs, 20 Auxiliary Buses, 1 stereo bus, and native Dante compatibility. With the

A large onboard touch screen must be built in to enhance local control to make quick adjustments and reduce the amount of menu navigation needed to make changes. Additionally, the unit must have built in presets that are tailored to in-ear monitor headphones from leading IEM manufacturers.
Line Item 6. The expansion card must increase the input/output capacity of the rackmount mixer and allow the transmission and reception of up to 128 channels (64 in/64 out), while simultaneously adding the ability to natively control the head amps of connected Dante devices. This card must have Primary and Secondary Dante port connections and conform to protocol and dimensions of the expansion port of the rackmount mixer.
Line Item 7. The Large format digital input/output rack must operate at up to 96 kHz sampling rate, and have 32 analog inputs, 16 analog outputs, and 8 digital AES/EBU outputs. The rack must connect directly to Dante enabled digital audio consoles or Dante audio networks allowing flexible system configuration and native control of functions from the control surface of the attached large or small format digital mixing consoles, or the IEM/Monitor mixer. Dual power supplies must be employed to increase reliability in case of a single PSU failure and the inclusion of redundant onboard Dante connections ensures the same high reliability for audio. Finally, an onboard character/graphic display must offer easy visual confirmation and local control of gain and other parameters.
Line Item 8. The Small format digital input/output rack must operate at up to 96 kHz sampling rate, have 16 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs. The rack must connect directly to Dante enabled digital audio consoles or Dante digital audio networks allowing flexible system configuration and native control of functions from the control surface of the attached large or small format digital mixing consoles, or the IEM/Monitor mixer. Dual power supplies must be employed to increase reliability in case of a single PSU failure and the inclusion of redundant onboard Dante connections ensures the same high reliability for audio. Finally, an onboard character/graphic display must offer easy visual confirmation and local control of gain and other parameters.
Line Item 9. The 8-output stage box must operate at up to 96 kHz sampling rate and have 8 analog outputs. The rack must connect directly to Dante enabled digital audio consoles or Dante digital audio networks allowing flexible system configuration and remote placement of 8 outputs via a single standard Ethernet cable. The stage box must have Primary and Secondary Dante audio connectors, ensuring redundant connections are available to the Dante audio network.
Line Item 10. The required large rackmount Dante network switch must be optimized for Dante network systems featuring twelve etherCON ports, four RJ45 ports, one opticalCON port, and an option slot for one more port. The switch must have built-in configurable VLAN’s via simple DIPswitch setting, allowing the creation of separate Dante and control networks on the same cabling.
Line Item 11. The required small rackmount Dante network switch must be optimized for Dante network systems featuring eight etherCON ports, one opticalCON port, and an option slot for one additional port.
The switch must feature built in VLAN’s via simple DIPswitch setting, allowing the creation of separate Dante and control networks on the same cabling.
Line Item 12. The digital plugin combo must include everything needed in order to run external Waves plugins on the attached digital live sound console. The combo must include a server that runs the plugins, an interface card that is compatible with the option slot of the attached digital audio console, an 8-port switch, Ethernet cable, Waves MultiRack host application, and five Waves Plugins.
