Reference Comment Response GRRS 2.1.9 refers to Ch10 section 10.3.11. There is no such section in '09 (there is in '07).

Please clarify. Corrected in TRD GRRS 2.3A.3 ‐ there are two 2.3's Corrected in TRD GRRS 4.2.2 contradicts GRRS

4.2.4. Please clarify. Corrected in TRD

GRRS 5.5.6 ‐ playback of 10Mbps recording at 1Mbps.

Does this mean a 1 minute recording takes 10 minutes to play out or something else? Ref TRD

GRRS 5.5.10 refers to main packet stream. What is this?

Ch10 has no "main packet." Should we use the definition of the DRS, paragraph 4.7.10? Corrected in TRD

DRS 1.3.2 and 4.7.21 ‐ where do we get a copy of the IADS Interface Document, March 7, 2007? Airforce Flight Test Center

DRS 4.7.9.j ‐ Since 10 Gbps Ethernet is not commonly available, is this something that needs to be included within the delivered product, or something that optionally needs to be included? Also, what connector and media is required for 10 Gbps? Requirement is as stated DRS 4.7.12 ‐ define the fidelity of "stepping" Revised in TRD GRRS 5.4.c ‐ Is unpacked record and reproduction required, or is only unpacked reproduction required?

Packed/Throughput is required

GRRS 5.5.12.a / DRS 4.9.3A.a.vii (there's two 4.9.3's in DRS ‐ this is the first one) ‐ absolute time ‐ is this the ch10 counter?

IRIG‐Time? Something else? Corrected in TRD

DRS 4.9.2B and 4.9.3B (again, two 4.9.2's and two 4.9.3's ‐ I'm referring to the 2nd ones) ‐ what is the difference between playback of the video audio as called out in 4.9.2B and 4.9.3B? Seems like 4.9.3B is a repeat of the 2nd part of 4.9.2B. Corrected in TRD

REQUIREMENT QUESTIONS & COMMENTS

2.1 GRS Terms and

Definitions

8. “Tape Media”: a tape cartridge from an AIT‐3 tape device which contains a DTF and has a SCSI interface.

AIT devices are now obsolete (announced by Sony). We recommend another device type for future archives. It is now difficult to provide AIT‐3 devices and provide service for faulty units. There is no way to provide continued support. Requirement is as stated

2.2 GRS Hardware

2.3 GRS

Software/Firmware

As a threshold the GRS shall have only one (1) software/firmware e.

Recording Event marking.

f. CH10 Publish directly from compliant IRIG106 Chapter 10

ORF

on an RMM’s and ORF or MRF on COTS Media IAW IRIG106 Chapter 10 section 10.10.1.c.

g. CH10 Publish directly from IRIG‐B time input and PCM inputs IAWIRIG106 Chapter 10 section 10.10.1.c.

h. GRS setup operations.

i. Status and health monitoring.

configuration which shall be IRIG106 Chapter 10. It is not permissible for the software/firmware to be provided within the GRS that allows the system to be configured or operate in a mode other than IRIG106 Chapter 10.2 GRS software/firmware will consist of a self‐contained program to

The Ground Recorder Reproducer GUI’s provide extensive status and health monitoring and the requirement to provide Serial Command Status and the functionality provided by Serial Command Health and Status monitoring is primitive for the ground station recorder. Can the GUI provide the Status and health monitoring or is Serial Command functionality a THRESHOLD? If Serial Command support is required, can this be moved to an OBJECTIVE?

i. Ground Station GUI’s provide extensive status and health monitoring. The requirement to provide serial command status and health monitoring by serial command is primitive for the ground station recorder. Is it acceptable for the GUI to provide the status and health monitoring or is a comprehensive serial command set functionality required? If serial command functionality is required can it be moved to an OBJECTIVE? Requirement is as stated

When GRS’s are connected to an Ethernet network they shall be configurable and controllable from a central location or multiple remote locations requiring no Local operator actions.

Recorded data access and transfer shall also be conducted across the Ethernet network requiring no local operator actions. These and other requirements will be defined in detail in later sections of this document.

Is it ok to support control from multiple locations but only allow a single station to have control rights. If multiple users are allowed to simultaneously control the system, this can cause major issues. Requirement is as stated

2. As a threshold the GRS data interface shall provide one (1)

AIT‐3

Tape Media with a SCSI interface.

Due to obsolescence of the AIT, can another Tape device be selected? Requirement is as stated

3.4 Data

1. As a threshold the GRS data interface shall provide a minimum of two (2) removable internal COTS Media Microsoft Windows NTFS formatted drives. Each internal COTS Media drive shall have a minimum capacity of 500GB and a COTS Media Interface.

2. As a threshold the GRS data interface shall provide one (1)

AIT‐3

Tape Media with a SCSI interface.

1 It is assumed the two removable drives may be contained in a single Raid Device.?

2. Same comment as 3.3 (2) Due to obsolescence of the AIT, can another Tape device be selected?

Requirement is as stated, AIT‐3 required

1. As a threshold the ADR shall provide one (1) time input channel.

Time input shall be concurrent with each PCM input channels.

This assumes the time input channel is used to synchronize the IRIG Time Packets and CH10 stamps. Is this a correct interpretation for the “concurrent with each PCM input channels”?

Time input and data packets IAW IRIG‐106 Chapter 10

3 Input Termination / Coupling 620Ω/ AC (Capacitor)

Why specifically 620 Ω?

Can it be changed to a minimum of 620 Ωor set to an Objective?

This is a non standard value? Corrected in TRD

Output Signal Amplitude Modulated IRIG B IAW

IRIG200‐04

Output Levels 0.5 to 10Vpp Output Termination / Coupling 620Ω/ AC (Capacitor) Output Over Voltage Protection ±15V Output Synchronization Accuracy IRIG‐A < 1 Microsecond IRIG‐B < 10 Microseconds IRIG‐G < 1 Microsecond Stability and Drift of the Internal Time Code with No Signal Stability: +10 ppm Drift: + 5 ppm per year

Is this requirement correct, the nominal outputs are normally 75 Ω.

Is it mandatory the output is variable voltage?

75 Ohms , Fixed output voltage

1. As a threshold the GRS shall provide four (4) PCM input channels each with a minimum sustained PCM data rate of one hundred bits per second (100 bps) and a maximum sustained

PCM

data rate of twenty million bits per second (20 Mbps). The

PCM

inputs shall be concurrent with the Time input channel.

Can 100 bps be an OBJECTIVE since it is an extremely rare occurrence that a user would utilize such a slow rate?

Can the lower threshold be set to approx. 1 kbps or above?

NOTE: 100 bps would only be 10 bits per packet. Corrected in TRD

2. As a threshold the DRS shall provide one (1) PCM programmable simulator for each PCM output channel that can be externally or internally routed to the DRS PCM input channels Can this be changed to an OBJECTIVE? Requirement is as stated

3. As a threshold the DRS shall provide NRZ‐L output for each channel with corresponding zero (0) degree clock from a minimum sustained PCM data rate of one hundred bits per second (100 bps) and a maximum sustained PCM data rate of twenty million bits per second (20 Mbps).

Can 100 bps be an OBJECTIVE since it is an extremely rare occurrence that a user would utilize such a slow rate?

Can the lower threshold be set to approx. 1 kbps or above?

NOTE: 100 bps would only be 10 bits per packet. Corrected in TRD

4. As a threshold the GRS shall provide differential RS‐422 and single ended TTL for each PCM output channel. The differential RS‐ 422 connectors shall be Triaxial and TTL connectors shall be

BNC.

Is it mandatory to provide Differential and TTL out simultaneously or can it be either one or the other, configurable based on the cables connected to the recorder.

Configuration with canbles is acceptable

9 As a threshold the GRS shall provide an IRIG time channel data status display GUI. The display shall show IRIG time format, IRIG time lock status and IRIG time data.

a. As an objective the GRS shall provide a 1 PPS time channel data status display GUI. The display shall show 1 PPS status and 1

PPS

indicator.

b. As an objective the GRS shall provide a GPS time channel data status display GUI. The display shall show number of GPS satellites acquired, GPS status, and GPS time data.

Is it acceptable for a separate application to show GPS Status such as satellites acquired, DOP, etc? it is not Acceptable

4 As a threshold the operator shall be capable of selecting an external TMATS file compliant with the IRIG106 Chapter 9 standard to over ride settings in the Setup Record Packet from the selected data source defined in section 5.5.1.a‐c of this document.

a. As an objective the operator shall be capable of selecting an external TMATS file compliant with the IRIG106 Chapter 9 standard to over ride settings in the Setup Record Packet from the selected data source defined in section 5.5.2.a of this document.

a. Can you provide examples of the type of settings to be overwritten?

Are they physical characteristics of the channel such as

NRZ

changed to RNRZ etc.? Any setting in TMATS

6. As a threshold the GRS shall provide the capability for the operator to select a lower PCM output bit rate for any enabled

PCM

channel from the original recorded PCM bit rate.

Example: if recorded PCM channel bit rate oversampled a one (1) mbps

PCM

stream and recorded it at ten

(10) mbps the GRS shall allow the operator to reconstruct the PCM channel at the original one (1) mbps rate.

Can this be converted to an OBJECTIVE due to the unique nature of this requirement? Can the extremely low bit rates be handled by oversampling? Requirement is as Stated

In section 2.1.5 “CH10 Publish or “CH10 Publishing”: Ethernet data broadcast which complies with IRIG106 Chapter 10 section 10.3.11.

Is this section call-out correct? Please clarify the parameters of Chapter 10 Publish ref IRIG‐106‐09 Chapter

In section 3.2.9 The data block size is defined as 512K bytes

512 bytes is the requirement

In section 4.1, the time input shall be concurrent with each PCM input channel. What is meant by concurrent, please clarify?

Ref accuracy specification in TRD section 8.4 it states a requirement for -40 degC but the figure shows -54 degC.

Please clarify the Equipment Temperature Altitude Requirements figure. Req is ‐40 Deg C

In section 8.6.1 through 8.6.7, environmental standards are called out.

Will pass by similarity or pass by analysis arguments be allowed for final acceptance?

Pass by similarity is mnot acceptable.
