Law Enforcement Boat Questions & Answers UPDATED 9 Aug 18 (originally from 17-Q-B174, RFQ previous year) The purpose of the amendment is to post questions and answers to FA2521-18-Q-B145 Combined Synopsis. All other terms and conditions of the Combined/Synopsis remain unchanged.
Question 1. Is this funding secured this year for the boat?
Answer 1. Yes, this year the boat is funded
Question 2. You all have specified Mercury Verado engines in the 200HP range. Mercury no longer makes the 200HP Verado. They have a 250HP Verado, but the lead time for ordering is 48 weeks. Their 200HP options include the 4-stroke and the SeaPro. Each of those has a lead time of 28 weeks. Will the end user entertain a different outboard? Suzuki, for instance, has a lead time of 4 weeks or less.
Answer 2. The 4-stroke is more important. The Sukuki 200 HP outboard engine would suffice.
Question 3. Would a 9’ beam overall be acceptable for this requirement?
Answer 3. Yes, that would suffice.
Question 4. The Willard Sea Force 700 has a length overall of 23’7”. However, the salient characteristics indicates minimum length of 24 feet. What is the minimum length overall of the requested craft?
Answer 4. 23'7 or larger is what we are requiring because anything smaller would possibly hinder our primary mission in foul weather.
Question 5. Is a single windshield wiper satisfactory if it is of sufficient size to clear the t-top windshield?
Answer 5. Yes, a single wiper system would be sufficient as long as it large enough to completely clear the windshield.
Question 6. The Whelen mini-freedom does not come in 28”. The standard size is 22”. Is that sufficient? Also, what color lights?
Answer 6. 23' 7" or larger is what we are requiring because anything smaller would possibly hinder our primary mission in foul weather. Red and Blue lights are the standard for law enforcement.
Question 7. Please confirm the siren manufacturer. We are unable to find a “Ritchie siren w/PA system”.
Answer 7. We are just requiring that the boat comes equipped with siren and PA system. We are not requiring one specific manufacturer for this item.
