Questions and Answers Solicitation of Ceramic Cooling Tower Gear Box and Hudson Fan

Question:

1. “Is this a new project or for an existing replacement?”

Answer:

2. Existing replacement Question:

1. “Are there drawings for the mounting equipment or is the contractor expected to design it? To design it we will need more detailed infonnation about the available constraints, requirements, amount of heat to be rejected, etc. For example, we meed to know the diamer of the fan blades.”

Answer:

2. Model 85, Ratio 4.5, RPM 1750, Shroud 111inch See photos attached.

Duplicate existing, due to shroud.

If needed phots provided.

Question:

1. “What is the fan diameter?” “If its not available, are we to design the assemblyand make selection?”

Answer:

2. 9 foot shroud inside diameter 111 inches.

Qustion:

1. “What fan is to be supplied 3000H, 3100H, or 3200H?”

Answer:

2. Vertical riser is 2” of shaft Question:

1. “What solicitation drawings show a fan speed of 1,750 rpm is required? With a 15 Hp .motor, as listed i n the solicitation. docuent, what gear box ratio should be delivered: 6.5 or 7.0.”

Answer:

1. “ls the assembly to have a separate thrust bearing assembly or is the Amarillo gear box to the thrust load adequate” Answer:

2. Amarillo thrust load adequate.

Question:

1. “ls the assembly required to be "hot dipped galvanized" and painted? Please note that any rotating part should be not be galvanized so that it is not unbalanced. Doing both causes long term problems so that these are poor solutions.”

“A far better corrosion solution is to paint all non-rotating parts with two coats of coal tar epoxy (See the attached) and them mechanically & electrically attach magnesium anodes to the non-rotating parts. These work far better and longer and cost less.”

1. “Are there named (in terms of manufacturers and model numbers) requ ired switches (low level oil, vibration, couplings) or are these to be selected solely by d the contractor?”.
