Questions and Answers

Answer – Either a D7 or D8
Question – Will the contractor be limited to working the same hours that the government works?
Answer – The contractor is allowed to work outside of the government’s regular hours. This must be coordinated ahead of time with the government.
Question – If the existing gravel pit does not have enough material would it be moved to another side of the mountain where the pit is located.
Answer – The government thinks the existing pit is good enough, but if it is not, the government will work with contracting to determine the proper pit location.
Question – If the existing pit area does not have enough material in it, would the contractor be required to blast/dig for more material?
Answer – The government will handle getting more material ready to be crushed.
Question – Will the government dig test holes to see if the material in the existing pit is good enough?
Answer – We’ll look into it.
Question – Is the contractor allowed to run the government dozer if the government does not provide a person to work?
Answer – No. The government will make sure a person is available at all times or make sure the contractor has a large enough stock pile to crush. Only in extenuating circumstances will a person not be available.
Question - Does the government want this project to start this year?
Answer – Yes. We would like it to start as soon as contracting has given the approval for work to start.
Question – How will the contractor quantify the amount to make sure the total tonnage of gravel is crushed?
Answer – The contractor can use a loader scale or belt scale. The government will measure the pit in order to estimate the amount.
