Eglin Air Force Base Pool Dome Replacement Specifications 12 September 2008

Purpose:

Replace an inflatable pool structure. Replacement structure must match current facility layout and accommodate anchor points, doorways, and blowers. (See diagram)

Type of Structure:

Inflatable/ non-permanent

Size:

128 feet wide
195 feet long
40 feet high with rectangular 90 degree corners

Pool Dome Size: 128W’ 195L’ 40H’ (with rectangular 90 degree corners) Fabric Envelope specifications: Total Weight: 31, Color: White, tensile break strength: 740 lbs; tensile tear strength: 275 lbs, ultraviolet ray: Dacron polyester fire retardant: Meets NFPA 701, Operating Temp: -40F to +150F Stay Clean Coating Thermaliner: 14 oz Exclusive Rip Stop Construction Continuous Airtight Anchorage System; Field Junction Seam Joints: 1 each roll with weight 6,138 pounds.

Cable Net System: The bias harness net system is prefabricated to totally encapsulate the air structure envelope. This harness system releases fabric tension in all directions, transforming fabric loads directly to the harness. 9 foot grid 120 mph winds.

Material Construction:

Color: White with stay clean topcoat finish
Tensile Strength: 740 LBS break Strength
Tensile Strength: 275 LBS Tear Strength
Ultraviolet Ray: Dacron Polyester
Fire Retardant: Meets NFPA 701
Operating Temperature: Minus 40 degrees to +150 degrees F

Type of Material: Vinyl coated polyester with an optional clear hard barrier Stay Clean coating which keeps the structure clean and increases resistance to abrasion.

Seams: Structure should have welded seams that are constructed to be stronger than the fabric itself. Heat sealed seams are also recommended to improve strength in high stress areas and to serve as rip stops to help prevent tear propagation.

Thermaliner: Thermaliner should be incorporated as an integral part of the main

structural envelope insulating 100% of the structural wall including seams. This
will reduces the unnecessary loss of conditioned air. The liner will be
clear/white translucent to allow 1200-foot candles of light transmittal. No
artificial lighting is required during daytime hours.

Anchorage system: Structure must be compatible to the current anchoring system.

Anchoring system is based on a method of continuous anchorage at the base of the structure. The angle bar or aluminum extrusion is so designed to incorporate hold down required for the harness net system and the air structure envelope.

This system eliminates the need for separate large hold down points. (See diagram)

Field Junction Seam Joints: Joint must be mechanical field jointed which allow the total envelope to be separated into smaller sections for easy erection and removal. The joints are mechanically sealed with aluminum non-rusting clamps.

Features:

Doors: Replacement structure must fit and seal around main and emergency metal doors to prevent loss of pressure. (See diagram). Door Dimensions 7 x9 feet.

Blower System: Replacement structure must fit and seal around an electric powered system that runs constantly to control adequate pressure. This blower system has heating option. (See diagram)

Secondary Blower System: Replacement structure must fit and seal around a secondary gas powered, back-up generator system is needed for the chance of a power outage. (See diagram)

Lighting: Replacement structure must accommodate Interior lights that hangs from the top of the structure to illuminate the interior. Six hanging light fixtures on one side and 7 on the other side of going along the length of the pool deck. Lights must be able to be around water. (See diagram)
