About this file

This is a comprehensive set of technical specifications and contract documents from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Facilities Engineering for a Maintenance Work Request (MWR) #09724012 to replace an HVAC unit at the Gist Unit. The project involves supplying and installing a new outdoor air handling unit with cooling capabilities, including detailed requirements for equipment, installation, electrical connections, and supporting infrastructure. The specifications cover everything from the air handling unit's technical characteristics to conduit installation, panelboard requirements, and identification standards. The scope of work includes disconnecting existing electrical services, removing old equipment, supplying and installing a new packaged HVAC unit, reconnecting electrical services, and performing startup procedures with factory-trained representative oversight.

The project appears to be funded directly by TDCJ and will be executed according to standard state procurement and facilities engineering protocols. The specifications indicate a strong emphasis on equipment quality, with requirements for U.L. listings, specific manufacturing standards, and detailed performance specifications. The air handling unit must be designed to supply 55-degree dry bulb air, operate in ambient temperatures up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit, and include features like variable frequency drive, digital compressor, and WiFi enablement. The contract includes provisions for warranty (5 years), spare parts, and comprehensive training for on-site maintenance personnel. The technical specifications are highly detailed, covering everything from material composition to installation techniques, reflecting TDCJ's rigorous standards for facilities maintenance and equipment replacement.
