INSTALLATION & OPERATION

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

COALESCING OIL/WATER SEPARATOR

CS - 100

INTRODUCTION

As with any equipment, proper installation and maintenance will improve performance and life expectancy. The following suggestions are designed to assist you in installing and operating your oil/water separator. However, this does not exclude other methods or procedures proven by your own experiences.

INSPECTION

Close inspection of all parts as soon as received from the shipper is very important. Shipping damage and missing parts can be identified at the outset, thereby preventing installation delays and unnecessary expense. All damage claims must be submitted directly to the shipper within 10 days of receipt of the equipment. Electrical nameplate characteristics of motors, controls, etc. should be checked promptly.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The oil/water separator is designed for continuous year round separation of oil/petroleum based products from water or other waste or process liquids. The standard oil/water separator has the fluid passing through an oleophillic (Oil Attractive) coalescing module which provides the basis for the separation process. The basic components of the oil/water separator are described below.

Coalescing Module A preformed module of corrugated PVC or

CPVC located inside of the separator

Oil Skimmer

Custom Automatic Drum Skimmer.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS

This unit is equipped with 1 electric motor. It requires 230/460 VAC, 1 PH, 60 Hz.

IMPORTANT:

All electrical connections and wiring must be done in accordance with the national electric code, state and local codes. Properly ground all electrical equipment and security lock all electrical control panels.

FREEZE PROTECTION

WARNING!!

The Oil Water separator is subject to freeze damage below 32(F.

Precaution must be taken to prevent freezing. Manufacturers warranty does not cover freeze damage.

LOCATION

Locate the oil/water separator as close to the influent source as possible. A solid level floor is necessary for proper operation. Locate the equipment with enough area around the unit to provide easy access.

SYSTEM STARTUP

Before putting the oil/water separator into operation, some initial checks will prevent mishaps.

1.)

Check for correct oil skimmer rotation. Correct Rotation has the Oil

Skimmer Drum turning against the Doctor Blade.

2.)

Fill the separator with fresh water until the separation chamber is full.

3.)

Induce rated flow to the separator.

4.) Balance flow rate to 100 GPM.

5.) Start the oil skimmer when accumulation of oil is noticed.

NOTE: This unit is rated for a maximum flow rate of 100 GPM.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

MONTHLY:

1) Clean out sludge accumulation in oil trough.

2) Visually inspect piping.

ANNUALLY:

1) Remove the coalescing material and rinse with hot water.

2) Clean all sections of the tank.

3) Flush Pump(s) with fresh water, inspect for wear, replace parts as necessary.

COALESCING MEDIA CLEANING

Clean the Media Pack with standard line pressure water and mild detergent only. Spray directly into the Media from all angles allowing the Sludge/Oil Material to fall from the bottom of the pack.
