About this file

This document is a Single Source Justification (SSJ) form from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for acquiring a permanently mounted Remote Automated Weather Station (RAWS). The procurement is for a weather station to be added to a national network of over 2,200 stations, using identical sensors and components to ensure consistent and reliable data for the National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDFRS).

Forest Technology Systems (FTS), a subsidiary of AEM, is the sole source vendor for this equipment, having been tested and certified by the National Interagency Fire Center's Remote Sensing-Fire Weather Support Unit (RSFWSU). No other vendors provide sensors and components that meet the required specifications. The document justifies the single-source acquisition under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT), with digital signatures from Brett Idol (Program/Project Officer) and John Skogen (Contracting Officer) approving the sole-source procurement.
