Text version

Dew Chamber Requirements (USVL, Charleston, SC) The U.S. Vegetable Laboratory is need of two new dew chambers as all our old chambers are not functioning very well.

We require dew chambers that are specifically designed for plant pathology studies and inoculating plants. Because of the extreme dew conditions, the interior of the chamber should be constructed of stainless-steel and aluminum with non-corrosive features that will resist chemical cleaning and disinfecting. The unit should be self contained.

The walls of the chamber should be covered with stainless-steel cooling plates to absorb radiated heat from plants and the ceiling of the chamber is tapered to prohibit drops of water from settling on plants on the top shelf.

We specifically need dew chambers. Germination chambers will not be suitable. Plus we do not have space to install large dew rooms that some company’s offer.

Temperature requirements: 10°-32°C (±0.75°C).

Temperature controls: To protect our experiments temperature safety limits are critical and the chamber will need to have adjustable high and low temperature controls, audible alarms, and visual indicators.

External dimensions: 33.5” Width X 33.6” Depth X 77.2 “Height Interior space: Up to 4 stainless steel shelves, Work area of 19.5 square feet to place plants for plant pathology experiments. Total interior volume of at least 29.7 cubic feet.

Electrical requirement: 115/1/60 - two grounded cords with Standard plug should be provided.
