OVERHAUL DESCRIPTION
FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY
ITEM NAME PUMP UNIT,CENTRIFUGAL

USED ON 87' WPB FIREMAIN SYSTEM
Items as received by the contractor must be complete and of the proper cited part number. Discrepancies shall be reported to the Coast Guard Contracting Officer.
OVERHAUL REQUIREMENTS:
PRELIMINARY INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS
The Contractor shall disassemble, clean and inspect the Model CRN-32-4 Grundfos centrifugal pump and electric motor assembly to obtain the overall condition and determine the estimated cost of overhaul. A detailed report and repair plan including material, labor, overhaul, testing, preservation, packaging, packing, marking, bar-coding and crate repair or replacement costs shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer for approval. Overhaul is intended to restore the Centrifugal Pump and electric motor assembly to a condition that is equal to that of a new Grundfos Model CRN-32-4 centrifugal pump and ellectric motor assembly. Overhaul requirements include overhauling or replacing the electric motor to OEM standards and specifications. No further work shall be accomplished until the report is approved in writing by the Contracting Officer.
The inspection report and repair plan shall consist of, as a minimum, the following information:
1. Date of Inspection
2. Identification of centrifugal pump / electric motor assembly by serial number, part number and stock number.
3. Condition of shipping crate and any cost of repair or replacement.
4. A list of parts and materials recommended for replacement with individual pricing.
5. Cost of overhaul labor broke down by number of hours and hourly rate.
6. Comments if any pertaining to unusual observations during inspection and disassembly.
MATERIAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Material certifications shall be submitted for any components designed to be exposed to corrosive fluids including salt water to validate design compliance and suitability for intended use. This pump is equipped with a Duplex Stainless Steel shaft (EN 1.4462) that has been approved by the OEM.
This shaft is magnetic so a material confiormance certificate from the OEM will be needed for verification.
TEST EQUIPMENT CALIBRATION
All test equipment used on this shall contract shall be certified and traceable to NIST.
OVERHAUL REQUIREMENTS:
The Centrifugal Pump and electric motor assembly shall be overhauled to a condition which shall restore the operating and performance characteristics to the "ORIGINAL" design and technical specifications. Overhaul shall be performed in accordance with Grundfos Pumps specifications and standards, which are proprietary to Grundfos Pumps. The electric motor shall be restored to its original condition per OEM standards and specifications. All Replacement Parts - All replacement parts used for this specification shall be new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. Reclaimed, recycled or aftermarket parts are not acceptable and shall not be used. The overhaul facility or any sub-contractors shall not manufacture parts to be used on overhauled assemblies. Parts not normally manufactured by the OEM such as seals, ball / roller type bearings, gaskets etc. shall be equal to the quality of such parts originally installed by the OEM, but are not required to be supplied by the OEM. After completion of all repairs, the Contractor shall perform standard production tests and inspections to assure maximum design performance these test include the electric motor per OEM requirements. A final inspection report shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer. This report shall depict the final condition of the Centrifugal Pump / electric motor assembly after all repair work has been completed.
QUALITY ASSURANCE:
US Coast Guard SFLC quality assurance personnel will witness OEM standard testing. All dimensions and required clearances will be verified to the OEM drawings, specifications and inspection reports. The Contractor shall have the latest versions of the drawings and specifications available for the scheduled inspections. The inspections and tests required herein are the minimum necessary and are not intended to replace any controls, examinations or tests normally employed by the Contractor to assure the quality of the product. The following are required and will be monitored by a Government Quality Assurance Representative.
a. Visual inspection of all components.
b. Tool calibration verification.
c. Witness all standard production testing per OEM requirements. OEM requirements shall be verified by QA reqpresentitive.
d. View material certifications.
e. Witness preservation, packaging, packing, and marking.
PACKAGING:
Each overhauled Centrifugal Pump shall be packaged in a substantial wooden box constructed from 3/4 inch plywood and 3/4 inch 1x4 boards. Flake board, particle board or OSB type wood shall not be used. Box shall be assembled using grip type (ring) nails or screws. The lid of the wooden box shall be screwed using corrosion proof wood screws. Each overhauled Centrifugal Pump shall be packed in a protective envelope using water-vapor-proof, greaseproof, flexible, heat sealable barrier paper in accordance with MIL- PRF-131, Class 3. All open ports shall be sealed using waterproof caps or covers to prevent the intrusion of moisture and other contaminants. Each pump shall be packed and secured to prevent movement during multiple shipments and warehouse handling. The Contractor shall place four to five ounces of desiccant packs conforming to MIL-D-3464, Type 1 inside the

APPLICATION OF ANY NEW MARKINGS. THE STENCIL SHALL BE APPLIED DIRECTLY ON THE
CONTAINER AND A MINIMUM OF 1/2 INCH HEIGHT BLACK BLOCK CHARACTERS ON A HIGHLY
CONTRASTING PAINTED BACKGROUND, USING PERMANENT WATERPROOF INK OR ENAMEL
PAINT.

WARRANTY:

B. Item being repaired as an "onboard repair" or a "system stock" item and will be put into inventory. NOT FOR IMMEDIATE INSTALLATION.
Contractor must guarantee item against defects that lead to failure for
90 days after installation for a period of up to two (2) years after delivery to Coast Guard.
GOVERNMENT ACCEPTANCE:
Acceptance will be made at destination by a Government representative.
Acceptance will be contingent upon the representative's verification of no damage in transit, correctness and completeness of order and contractor's conformance to preservation/packaging, packing and marking requirements.
PACKAGING AND MARKING FOR SHIPMENT:
