About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) file for the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) related to lifeguard and water safety instructor services at the NYC Children's Center - Bronx. The Q&A addresses specific operational details for swim instruction, including staffing requirements, pool characteristics, and administrative protocols. Key details include confirmation of 1 lifeguard and 1 swim instructor being required, swim lessons occurring during specific time frames, an anticipated group size of 4 youth, and a pool with a minimum depth of 3.5' and maximum depth of 5'. The document clarifies that swim lesson registrations will be handled by the interdisciplinary team, and that site-specific Certificates of Insurance (COIs) are required in addition to standard OMH insurance requirements.

The Q&A provides additional insights into facility operations, noting designated staff entrances and secure storage areas are available, emergency protocols will involve all parties present, and no regular emergency preparedness drills are required. The document specifies that swim instructors will only be present during designated instructional periods, and mandated breaks will be scheduled collaboratively with the vendor. Site-specific operational details include confirmation that no third lifeguard is needed for coverage during breaks, and that the facility anticipates collaborative scheduling to account for mandated staff breaks.
