Salient Characteristics Special Order S21146

ACOUSTIC BACKSCATTER AND OPTICAL TURBIDITY SENSOR

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

1 EA, Acoustic Backscatter Sensor Upgrade Package:

1. Shall consist of upgrading an existing-owned acoustic backscatter sensor to a device that includes both the acoustic backscatter sensor and a turbidity sensor as described above.

2. Shall include all features and characteristics as described with sensor above.

3. Shall be calibrated and tested for conformance to specifications.

4. User shall be responsible for obtaining an RMA and returning the existing instrument to the vendor for upgrade.

1 EA, Connector Base Cable:

5. Shall be compatible with acoustic and optical sensor described below.

6. Shall consist of a base cable with a standard 8-pin watertight connector on one end and a set of open leads on the other end.

1 EA, 20 M Communication and Power Cable:

7. Shall be a communication and power cable for the acoustic and optical sensor described above.

8. Shall be at least 20 meters long.

9. Sold by the meter.

2 EA, Acoustic Backscatter and Optical Turbidity Sensor:

10. Shall consist of a device that pairs and integrates two different measurement techniques (acoustic and optical) for the measurement of Suspended Sediment Concentrations (SSC) and turbidity.

11. Shall include an acoustic backscatter sensor and an optical turbidity sensor.

12. Shall have an acoustic backscatter concentration measurement range from 1 mg/L to at least 30,000 mg/L and a turbidity measurement range from 0 to at least 3,000 NTU.

13. Shall be capable of maintaining a near-constant calibration within a factor of two for grain-sizes ranges from 1 um to at least 500 um.

14. Shall be no larger than 2.3” (5.8cm) x 4” (10.1 cm) x 13.5” (34.29cm).

15. Shall include an SDI-12 interface.

16. Shall include an integrated wiper for the turbidity measurement.

17. Shall include features, and be constructed of materials, that are resistant to biofouling.

18. Shall include a USB connector for connection to the acoustic backscatter sensor.

19. Shall include a “y-cable” for power and SDI-12 communication between both sensors.

20. Shall have a maximum current drain of 200 mA or less.

21. Shall operate from an external 12 VDC (nominal) power source.

22. Shall include a 10M communications and power cable.
