About this file
This document is a Sources Sought Notice from the Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants. The purpose is to identify qualified small businesses, including Section 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, and EDWOSB firms, that can provide a 3D Acoustic Doppler Unit and accessories.
The key requirements are for an Xylem FlowTracker2 Handheld Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter with an integrated depth sensor to support research on aquatic ecosystems and fish behavior. The unit must provide accurate hydraulic data, including three-dimensional velocity measurements and reliable depth measurements, and be portable and durable for wading in different aquatic environments. The delivery time is 60 days. Interested firms must submit capability statements detailing their relevant past performance, business size status, and contact information by August 13, 2023 at 8:00 AM mountain time. This is not a solicitation, but market research to identify potential sources. Any future procurement will be posted separately on SAM.gov.

Specifications/Salient Characteristics:
The Xylem FlowTracker2 Handheld Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter with an integrated depth sensor to support their research program on aquatic ecosystems and fish behavior. The primary use of this equipment is to collect accurate hydraulic data while wading in flowing water environments. This data is essential for mapping velocity profiles and correlating them with fish behavior, thereby supporting the research objectives. Using the Xylem FlowTracker2 Handheld Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter is needed to provide decision-relevant information to Federal partner agencies and other collaborators.
Salient Characteristics:
· Accurate Hydraulic Data: The FlowTracker2 provides high-resolution velocity and depth measurements essential for our research.
· Patented Technology: Xylem’s patented technology ensures reliable depth measurements in flowing water, which is crucial for our studies.
· Essential Research Tool: The accurate velocity and depth data gathered are critical for mapping velocity profiles and understanding fish behavior.
1. Integrated Depth Sensor:
a. Must have a built-in pressure sensor to accurately measure depth in flowing water.
2. Measurement Capabilities:
a. Must provide three-dimensional velocity measurements.
b. Must be able to operate effectively in various water flow conditions.
3. Portability and Durability:
a. Must be handheld and suitable for wading in different aquatic environments.
b. Must be rugged and durable to withstand field conditions.
Delivery is 60 days.
Interested small business firms shall submit (1) NAME, ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER OF THE FIRM (including UEI (Unique Entity Identifier); (2) a CAPABILITY STATEMENT including (a) RECENT (within the last three fiscal years) RELEVANT (similar projects to this requirement) performance history (identify the name of the owner and there point(s) of contact with telephone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses; and (b) in what capacity (e.g., prime, subcontractor etc.) they performed the work; and (3) their SIZE STATUS.
