New River Gorge National Park and Preserve Statement of Work Outdoor Relief Map
Background. Design, production and installation of an outdoor relief map to be installed at Canyon Rim Visitor Center
Objective: Design, fabricate, and install a 3’x6’ bronze resin three-dimensional monochromatic park relieve map that will be located just outside of Canyon Rim Visitor Center. The map will be:
• Weatherproof and resistant to rain, snow, freezing temperatures, high temperatures, varying degrees of humidity.
• Used by visitors to get a better big picture of the entire park and the geographic features that make up the gorge.
• Used by rangers during interpretive programs or for curriculum programs for kids to illustrate the way in which watersheds work.
• Placed in a high traffic area just outside of the busiest visitor center in the park where it will be fully accessible to visitors.
• Fabrication and installation of this exhibit will be in accordance with accessibility standards.
Scope: Design, construction, and installation.
Tasks: Work with park staff in developing the map to ensure the correct features are placed on the map.
Ensure that topographical features are to scale. Ensure ABA requirements for site impaired and wheelchair accessibility are met. Provide proofs as needed. Work with park maintenance staff during installation process, following all the rules of compliance.
Selection Criteria: Contractor should have experience working with design, production, and installation of outdoor exhibits. Contractor should stay within bid price, with final product acceptable by the park.
Deliverables: Installed map
Delivery Schedule: Installed no later than August 1.
Government Furnished: Review and approval of exhibit. Assistance with selection of site installation.
Security: Contractor is responsible for adequate security of all materials and tools throughout installation process. Work should be done without disruption to visitor experience.
Place of Performance: Design can be done in consultation with park and should provide for one site visit or as needed. Fabrication should be done offsite at contractor’s work establishment. Installation done onsite at park.
